No freaking way Marc Bergevin retains $4.5 million for 6 more years on Carey Price, Especially with a flat cap for the next 3 years or so. That's like $27 million in dead money. Why would any Ownership grant that when teams are losing money right now?.

50 games of holl on the first pairing should be enough to change the mind of the biggest skeptics.

habs have deep pockets. it's dead money either way price isn't a $10.5m dollar goalie. at least this way the habs are free and clear for the $6m on the final 3 years. habs will have suzuki, kotkaniemi, caufield, romanov, and potentially 2020 1st rounders would be coming off elc during that period.

Holl was really good next to Muzzin on the 2nd pair. But if you don't watch and just chirp none of that matters anyways.

He isn't on the first pair though. It's going to be Dermott or Lehtonen to start next to Rielly and I am confident one of them will fit in nicely.

And? Holl didn't hurt Muzzin at all. Barrie did, but Holl and Muzzin looked good. So what?

      Nope...

Georgiev for Mete, Weal and 2 3rds is fair. He's got starter-like numbers over the past 2 seasons

Yeah they did, but saying that Holl is a 2nd pairing d-man when he actually is a number 5 on most contending teams is just wrong... btw as soon as Muzzin went down Holl started struggling

Yeah because his partner was Martin Marincin and they were asked to play against the other teams top pair. He once again looked solid when Keefe put Dermott next to Holl. Its **** like this that make me question whether you actually watch any Leaf games. Its hard to look good next to Marincin when you are on the 3rd pair in sheltered minutes. Against top competition? That is just a disaster for anyone.

Individually, without taking his teammates into question, it's obvious he struggled.

Dubas should've given him a 1 year, 1,25 mil «prove it» deal... if Holl proved that he was the top 4 d-man he looked like for a good chunk of the year he could've been resigned for 3 years at 2,5 mil per... giving him 2 mil per for 3 years after only a few weeks of solid play is a bad strategy every time

Look guys Sakic is not going to pay the cost for Price and MB is not going to give up Price for less than a kings ransom whether it is realistic or not is irrelevant to MB.

if mb wanted a kings ransom for price he should have traded price instead of extending him in 17-18.that contract killed his trade value. at this point getting cap flexibility would be the next best thing to a kings ransom.

Which means jack sh*t when playing behind Ruff's defensive sh*tshow. I mean AG has a better GSAx than Andersen over the past 2 seasons

Advanced stats are still so hard to really trust in hockey. You see certain stats that suggest, certain players are incredible and then fans jump on that. For example, Pesce being elite because of WAR numbers. But then that same stat shows Seth Jones as essentially a replacement level player. Too many analytic companies are trying to create their perfect system but it doesn't work all that well. Team systems have a huge impact on individuals, as does the other 5 players they share the ice with. Geiorgiec is not an elite goalie. He's a backup and a good one but lets not go overboard.

Not for the price it would cost. He's too old and doesn't offer them anything they need. They have adequate in house options for 5v5, better PP options and Petry isn't exactly a top PK guy. So for the price you guys want, he's staying a hab.
