It's not his points... I just think we need to cleans ourselves of a lot of the players that weren't working here... Bring in fresh faces... He also had some aggravating penalties and stupid hockey sense moments last year.

I think an underrated part what people don't realize is that defense. you have one dman who is defensively responsible and then the next 5 are puck moving dmen who were pretty sloppy defensively. Buffalo needs more lockdown, defensive first defenseman. having 5 puck moving dmen who struggle defensively isn't going to work. look how disastrous they were this past season defensively. Maybe sign a couple guys who are defensive first and have good experience. that would definitely be a start

Possibly. RW is very weak. Fast is a career 3rd liner, Grandlund is not known for his production (aside from 2 outlier years of which he has completely regressed), and Thompson is a complete role of the dice. Ruotsalainen is not a 4th liner and will be lost in that role. Tanev again, may as well bring in Borgen or just keep Montour on his natural side and keep McCabe, even if you want to chance Bryson on the 2nd pair, as he is not a shut down defender, and keep McCabe in that role (McCabe and Borgen would be fantastic). The Sabres D this year was stealthily top 12 in the league, some metrics top 5. Goaltenders are vastly improved which already makes the team better, which is really all they needed this year to be in the 24 team format. Though the cap doesnt look good. Sabres are getting hit with a penalty because of bonuses, which you're putting them right back in that danger zone and havent factored in the penalty yet. Plus Reinhart probably gets more, whether or not we think he deserves it.

This is what it would take to pry Hertl from the sharks.
Is he worth that haul or not is irrelevant sharks want to build around him just like you guys wana build around eichel. To get something the other team doesn’t want to give up you have to overpay it’s that simple.

Hertl is 27 and SJ has no assets, theyre kinda just hoping the team they have improves. You can try to build around him, he probably walks though
