Tons of problems here but the biggest one to me is why are we taking back Alzner for such an awful return? Labanc can get a first by himself so why are we getting less while taking a huge dump back?

IMO the two contracts to move are couture (because you can get value( and vlasic (get out now, pay the price, move on)

burns can play, karlsson is unmovable.

Not much less as it's an early 2nd, Mete's able to play top 4 minutes and Ylonen ceiling's a top 6 forward (Which he could very well become)

Burns can probably be moved to Seattle the same way Fleury to Vegas (GM's usually learn their lesson, dout it will cost as much)

No chance you get a second and a prospect back for Jones. Lucic contract is shorter than the jones contract so san jose would have to add. Nobody is taking the worst goalie in the league especially if it costs a 2nd and a prospect

Was going to say this. Flames are taking way more risk in a Jones/Lucic swap.

Longer contract, more important position, etc

At least with Lucic you can bury him in the bottom six and he's still an effective depth winger. If Jones continues to post sub 0.900 save %'s the Flames would be completely screwed unless they can miraculously find a starter on an ELC or near league minimum contract.

I don't think this trade idea is that far off and with Romanov coming Mete could be moved. I would probably take this offer from Montreal's side. Three decent pieces going back to SJ, if they don't want the Alzner contract (Which I completely understand then leave him out and Montreal holds onto Ylonen or the 2020 2nd(CHI) )

Habs pass Overpayment for 3rd line winger and C Grade D prospect / career minor leaguer
Mete is at least top 6 NHL d & Ylonen has top 9 potential

Well as usual you overvalue your players, Labanc may be worth a late first but the above return is better. As many others have stated, Mete is a top 4 D, Ylonen is a good prospect and the CHI 2nd is basically a late 1st (40-45 range).

Ok, personally I'm okay with this, Hertl will be fine and if he signs an extension it's worth paying more

I don't know if they would, Dahlen and Puljujarvi are similar and both need NHL chances that they probably won't get with their current teams

I suppose. I think Burns can be moved with retained $$ for a decent return. Couture I can't see wanting to leave but you never know. Vlasic would cost so much to move it wouldn't be worth it.

I don't believe so, I just meant that the trade would include an extended Hertl, not just 2 years of him then him walking to FA

He's playing in the Swedish equivalent of the OHL, his numbers look good but he isn't playing against the best of the best in Sweden

Calgary needs a goalie as I see Talbot going elsewhere, Lucic stinks and is never gonna win you a game whereas Jones can still win games for you, he really needs to have a change though and to have competent D in front of him. Foo is hardly a prospect, he's 26 and playing in the KHL and holds 0 value to Calgary's org.

Ya but you dump one of the worst contracts in the league in the process

That's just way too much in my opinion; especially due to Hertl's recent injury. To be honest if it weren't his legs I'd probably be ok with it although it is overpayment. But the leg injuries make me very cautious about him not coming back right and becoming a overpaid shadow.
