Don't want to be that guy but there is just nothing there. Sabres don't want a 30 year old $11M C in their position. It would be a brutal scene when Tavares slides off.

For the Sabres to trade with a rival it'll have to be silly.

Reason why the Sens didn't trade E. Karlsson to Toronto.

Also you can't get Eichel without dropping cap space.

I honestly feel for Leafs fans. Tavares was a step back rather than a step forward. Sure, he brings his individual effort but that contract HURTS. Would the team be so much worse with Matthews and Kadri? plus a better defense with that cap space?

Made a few "what if" Leafs didn't sign JT ACGM's. Kadri and Marner were good 2nd line, which would have improved steadily with each year Mitch matured.

No doubt it'd have to be an overpay but that's a ridiculous price. There would be no benefit

He was still on pace for 34 goals and pretty much ppg while dealing with injuries/new coach/line shuffling after playing with the same line all last year and also being with that line for training camp then switching to playing with Willy and a rotating LW
