Actually seems very realistic.

Byron instead of Weal, but that's just nitpicking. Apart from that you pretty much put up the roster I expect MTL to go into next season with.

I doubt we're signing a backup that expensive. It's probably gonna be a Brossoit-caliber goalie that we can easily bury in the minors in case one of Primeau or Demchenko excels in training camp

this was the main part that I was unsure of. Primeau was good in his 2 games this season but I wouldnt expect him to make the roster this soon. I wouldnt call Crawford a backup, more like a 1A/1B situation. Most teams are shifting towards a more even share of starts between their goalies while Price has been starting tons of games for MTL (most starts in the league in the past 2 seasons) since they havent had another reliable option. This takes the pressure off of Price and lets him get more rest than he has in the past which could lead to him getting closer to his '13-'17 self

Montreal's management would never let Price share the duties this soon. All we need is a cheap backup that could steal a few games every now and then, which is why I wouldnt be surprised to see Primeau on the main roster next year

I don't think Primeau will be on the main roster next season. I think they are confident in Demchenko filling the backup role.

That's what they've been doing in the past and it hasn't worked. They use inexperienced or lower quality backups and force Price to start a crazy amount of games. He hasn't performed very well the last few seasons. Imo getting a more reliable 2nd goalie takes pressure off of Price so he can take a smaller workload and hopefully perform better.

Imo demchenko will need at least a year in the AHL first. Not many goalies go straight from the KHL to NHL (except Shesterkin, who was miles better than the rest). There are smaller rink sizes, different styles of play, and a whole bunch of other stuff to adjust to. Not to mention he struggled this past year in the KHL. I don't think Primeau should be rushed for no reason. MTL has the cap space so there's no need to bring Primeau up right away when they can afford to get someone better

To be fair if none of Demchenko, Primeau, Lindgren or McNiven's backing up Price we've got a problem in Laval and might end up dressing goalies at defense. They either start a guy in Montreal, trade Lindgren or not resign McNiven at the very least and you're still stuck with an extra one. I feel they give another year to Lindgren to prove himself (I'm a big believer) and then Primeau would come back Price up in the late stage of the season (Less than 9 games so his ELC slides, nevermind I don't think his can slide). We need to remember we're at stage 3 of retool (Last stage before actually being competitive) so I could see Montreal staying at idle another year in the nets but they need to use that cap money to get asset if they don't spend it! The only reason fans are unhappy about the backup situation is that they've had money to get one and haven't but if you spend money to gain assets (Cap dump) people won't be as mad because at least that helps the team. After seeing those Toronto and Boston deals I don't get why a team in a retool isn't going into those kind of deals as much as they can.
