Didn't the Oilers recently trade Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson? Reilly is a near Norris calibre D-man, who played through injuries this past season... much closer to Draisaitl for Reilly + some top up talent.

Reilly is a near Norris calibre D-man... Nurse will never be that calibre even feeding the puck to McDavid & Draisaitl; Matthews is marginally ahead of Draisaitl at this age in their careers; obviously, McDavid is significantly more impactful than Marner, but Marner has already scored 90+ points in a season.... this is where the discussion would start.

like I said above, it wasn't that long ago that the Oilers traded Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson... because premier D-men are at a premium - Reilly is one of them.

McDavid idolized the Leafs as a kid. He can not stand too much more losing in Edmonton or want to be part of the endless rebuild in Edmonton.

Bettman also knows McDavid is wasting in NHL and needs him moved to big market like Toronto, NY or LA to help rebuild the fan base and TV interest after this covid. This is not rocket science to understand if you have some business sense. McDavid is also getting really tired of having to be the spokesman and making apologies for the franchise and is probably one playoff round loss like this year to finally demand out of Edmonton. I hope i am wrong but I have a really bad feeling how this going to play out in the future.
