I think it’s a pretty fair trade. The leafs get the top rhd they need badly, cap space, a lower pick, and a top 6 forward replacement in bjorkstrand. As for the Blue Jackets, they finally have a star forward in Marner, another defender in dermott, a 2nd round pick, and a defensive prospect in liljegren.

I genuinely like this trade. I'm not a leafs fan and I certainly don't want to see Rielly and Jones as a top pair because I'm afraid for the well being of the world if that happens but this gets both teams where they need to go. Cbj restocks their offense with a guy they can build totally around and let run wild and Tor actually helps their cap problem finally. It helps both teams but more importantly it hurts both teams which is a mindset most people here are lacking. Trades need to hurt. 9.5/10
