The legendary party boy Mike was on La poche Bleu last night to talk about life, career and all around hockey.

Some point :
He said he had the talent to become a better player if he was not alcoholic and drug addict.
When he was playing in MTL, there was two gang in the room :

Mike, Theodore and Dagenais
Koivu, Rivet and some other

Koivu was always angry when he was not taking stock. He didn't seem to like Mike, but he never knew why.
Mike always felt intimidated, was always looked at when he tied his skates. Saku was not a good captain.

When he got to Dallas, he said he was going to claim and try to control himself, but the first trip of the team he understood that it was going to be difficult, because there was a lot of star who was doing the party every night, including Eric Lindros.

He would like to play his entire career in Montreal. We had promised him that he would not be traded, but the summer that followed we traded him.

He would like to be better surrounded on the ice when he started in the league. He says that it was impossible to produce in this time there on the 4th line with two fighters.

He was sent to waivers after a series of events that happened just before. He didn't want to go net front on the PP. He refused to board twice during a game and did not replay. They had a practice on January 1 and when he arrived he asked the coach if it was an April Fool. He told her it didn't make sense to practice January 1st in the morning.
He finally asked for an exchange. He was close to returning to Montreal in the weber-subban exchange, but a member of the Montreal organization reportedly said no.

In Nashville, some players simply did not understand this exchange and still say that Weber is far better than Subban.

Finally, Pierre Dagenais joined the podcast and said that Montreal had made a mistake. That a star wanted to play in Montreal and even if he was at the party, he was the best player on the ice and the habs should not have traded him. He was better playing hangover.

Ribeiro says it's true, at one point in his career he thought he couldn't play rest, he was not good. It had become psychological.

He decided to party for a year as he had promised himself when he stopped playing, because he had always been told what to do all his career. He understood that he no longer liked to play when one morning he got up and said to himself: I have to go to work. Now he's doing well and living in Nashville and taking care of his family.

He wants to become a coach and sees Guy butcher as the next coach in Montreal. He would like to be assistant for the PP.

Finally imagined a guy who took care of his body like Jaromir Jagr. He would still play in the league and still be dominant.

I love how he tried to make Saku Koivu look bad. Koivu was a good captain, caring for his team. When you're a party boy and you're not giving your 100%, you will be looked down. He may have had all the talent in the world but if he couldn't get his **** together & it's obvious that his head was somewhere else, then Saku had a good reason not to like him

Isnt he an alcoholic? I wouldn't really say party boy, clearly he has some problems he was/is dealing with.

His problems got progressively worse, but it likely started with partying, he should have realized something when his teammates splitted the locker room in two
