Initial Creation Date: Jul. 3, 2020
Published: Jul. 3, 2020

Description
toronto drafts DRYSDALE or Rossi.

could be a terrible idea but would an elite goalie make people feel better about TML"untested" defense. i dont want to say bad/terrible bc they could be fine hard to say. i think the defense is okay. and the offense is pretty stacked

just an idea... stay possitive if possible.

Yes. Columbus need another wing..... Not!! Also Columbus isn’t adding. We’d rather keep Anderson and hope for a bounce back.

I assume by removing Anderson it would open a spot.... 1 for 1?

Not really.... we have Bremstrom who would get that spot and Stenlund who can play 4th line or even Nash could move to 4th line wing. Columbus has too many wings...

What makes you think that either Drysdale or Rossi falls to Anaheim at #6? Detroit takes Rossi at #4 and Ottawa takes Drysdale at #5 Anaheim then probably takes Raymond at #6.

Truly anything can happen. I wouldn’t rule out seeing Ottawa take a gamble on jack Quinn with 5th. It’s deep enough draft one scout could change the board upside down.

Well we wouldn't. We'd consider it if you added Lindholm. Even then no.

yeah I assume Anderson is worth maybe a 2nd? and that based on the potential of a 26 year old bouncing back. I like Anderson for the fact he scores a lot of goals but anything more than a2nd seems steep to me. kappy seems like he would have a value of a 2nd +. not too much more like I said maybe 3rd but apparently that was too much.

Gibson trade idk.... again I don't talk about Matthews. I just assume goalies values aren't too great

Kappy has to be worth atleast a mid to late first. He was drafted in the first round and has developed into a solid player. Hits fights scores kills penalties. Sure he plays on Toronto’s third line but he puts up points that would have him as a high end 2nd liner. Given that sort of ice time and pp he would certainly produce more.

I just can’t for the life of me understand how his value has gone down since being drafted.

He could easily be worth a 1st. im just talking values that imo would be impossible to deny or argue.

Since when is 1 goal considered a lot of goals. I am sorry I couldn't help myself.

If TO loses in the play in and wins the lottery, they'd pick 1st though, I am not sure how this other scenario works, I am not quite up to date on where else they could finish.

Hard pass on the CBJ trade.

Pros:
Save 700k in cap space
3rd round pick

Cons:
Risk getting a 4th liner
Kapanen is a better player even if Anderson has a bounce back season
Lose RFA status on contract expiration in 2 years
Get worse player defensively

Not really. It doesn't work for either side - we have an interest in keeping Andy because when he's performing like he normally does he's a goal-scoring speedy power forward (which is quite nice) while Kapanen isn't much exceptional beyond what we already have (we don't have a Marner or Nylander to play with, but Bjorkstrand and Atkinson are still superior players), and meanwhile the Leafs' cap issues are not going to be measurably solved by trading a sure thing for a gamble - especially given that said gamble is likely to want quite a bit of money.

That's kind of what it'd take for us to willingly forego the gamble, since we need special weapons on offense and a bounced-back Andy is just that. If Andy-for-2nd is a desirable trade, feel free to extend an offersheet.

It has nothing to do with persecution complexes and everything to do with the fact that Andy scores through a particular standout ability and Kapanen is "merely" all-around very good, and we need anybody who can stand out in any way, and we're otherwise overstrength at that position. Kapanen could very easily end up on our third line as well, despite us hardly having anyone the caliber of Marner or Nylander.

He’s normally good for 20 goals. CBJ fans are convinced that last year was a fluke. Imo he’s a 20g 30-35 points winger. Nothing too crazy. But good for a 3rd line guy

If they lose they’ll have a 12.5% chance at #1 overall
