Description
Just a healthy dose of fantasizing. These are all moves that I would like to see done and how I would like to see the team be built in the near future.

I tried to get as close to realistic trade values as possible but some of them are likely off anyway.

Except Murray, I think Rutherford is going to want at least a 1st for him.

I think the Canucks would have to seriously consider this trade offer. Two quality players and a 2nd would deserve a very close look.

Boeser and Cirelli aren't getting traded, And that has to be the most expensive 4th line in the entire NHL.

Honestly, I couldn't give a flying F**k about what the bottom line costs as long as the team stays under the cap. Other than Staal, there isn't a player over 30 in the top 9.

Parise still plays better than 80% of most bottom 6'ers. And Zuccarello stays on the bottom since he hasn't been a good fit for us.

GEEK line is the GEEK line, enough said. They were one of the best shutdown lines in the league this past year. I didn't want to break them up.

I also tend to view it as a 1st scoring line, 2nd scoring line, 3rd checking line, and a 3rd scoring line. So whatever.

Murray for Menell, 1st

Good chance of a yes from Pittsburgh.

I don't see them going for a 2022 1st. That doesn't help them win now. Even if it's a great chance at Wright......which is another reason I don't see MIN moving that pick.

No it doesn't, and that's kinda the point of it.

I'm not overly concerned about a prospect 2 years out. No matter how good they might possibly be. Guerin's/My goal is and should be getting this team to being competitive and a possible contender as quick as humanly possible.

Whereas Pittsburgh should be. That 1st hurts the Wild the least right now, and is a huuuge boon to Pittsburgh by virtue of giving them a 2nd 1st rounder when Sid and Geno's career's will be coming to an end. Thereby softening the Pen's transitioning into a rebuild phase.

It gives a extra trick up the Penguin's sleeve if you will, or an additional trump card down the line when they'll need it more.

you ever see the movie gattaca? The penguins aren't saving anything for the swim back. they don't give a damn about what happens when Crosby and Malkin are done. They aren't saving for that future. If it doesn't help them immediately, they probably aren't doing it.

And MIN probably does care about the 2022 draft no matter what you think. Good chance they are a lottery pick then. And Wright might be the best player since Crosby to come along. 15yo don't score ppg in the OHL.
Wright at 15/16
games 58 goals 39 assists 27 pts 66
McDavid at same age
games 63 goals 25 assists 41pts 66

Every team in the league knows he's got a really high chance to be the next Crosby level player.

Yeah, there is a superstar in every draft, people still trade their 1st.

They arent going to get anything that helps now because there isnt the cap space for it. I know, the Crosby/Malkin window blah blah blah... you still make the best deal possible.

That's just it, there is always a way to help. And if the difference is a 2 year away 1st, or moving Hornqvists 5+ million off the cap, while having goalie depth for a year. I'm pretty sure I know which one I'm taking.
