As far as addressing the blue line, if the leafs wanted a guy like dumba, they'd just re-sign Tyson Barrie because they're basically the same player in what they bring.

Dumba is a drastically different player than Barrie. Barrie is more of a playmaker from the blue line and shies away from contact while Dumba is not afraid to play the body and is more of a scorer. A lot of Leafs fans on here think he's some 3rd line scrub that sucks at defending for some reason which is not the case at all.

Toronto does not make this trade (Nylander is fantastic and is on a great contract), but Dumba absolutely is a good defender when he's producing points and he absolutely has top pairing upside.

similar in they are offensive based defenders who are not very good in their own end. And Tyson Barrie does fine in physical situations, he just doesnt throw hits like Dumba does. The Leafs dont need one way defenders, especially expensive ones

That's not true at all, Dumba is great in his own end. His problem comes when he's not producing points he forces plays and it makes him look bad. That's what happened this year since he was coming off a major injury. When he's producing, he's a great defender and there's no doubt in my mind he will return to that player as early as this summer when play resumes.
