Montreal rejects. We don’t need to trade Domi, so we’re only trading him if what we’re getting back is worth it and fits our needs. While we have cap space now, we don’t have that luxury next year, so we can’t afford to add unnecessary contracts.
Matheson’s contract is too long, and plays in a position of strength of LHD. You said we might need to replace Petry/Weber, which we 100% need to do. But to replace them we need a RHD, and we probably need to draft them, since no one’s going to be willing to trade a player of that caliber.
As for Connolly, we would be mildly interested, if not for his contract. His contract is way too long, and would end up costing us one of our top UFAs in free agency next year. Plus we have enough depth on the wing that we don’t need him.
So neither of these pieces interest the habs, meaning you’re definitely not getting Domi.
