Marcus Johansson

Created by: Richard88
Team: 2020-21 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 4, 2020
Published: Jul. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Made this AGM out of curiosity of what other Avs fans think of Johansson. Can he still be a good top 6 forward? He's fast and has playmaking abilities which could in theory work well with Kadri and Burakovsky.

Additional Details:
Ideally something like Johansson + 3rd for Zadorov would work, but Buffalo don't have a 3rd, so a pick swap could make sense as an alternative.

Honestly I like the deal in terms of value for both teams but you’re right it doesn’t address Buffalos needs as much

I like the deal as a Sens fan. We have a ton of 2nds and could bank on Jost’s potential

johansson is one of 6 players the sabres have who can be credibly called top 9 forwards (cozens would be 7), we need to add to our forward group, not detract from it.

we have Dahlin and McCabe coming back at LHD and have 3 good LHD propsects in Samuelsson, Bryson and Johnson, this trade makes no sense and we have to give up the 38th overall pick for some reason.

Buffalo decline. I like Zadorov, but still I would not want to trade our #38 and Johansson for LD. I think we could consider options in a free agency for this position.

I really like Johansson but hes a winger. Buffalo wants him to be a center and that's why hes not doing well. MoJo is very fast and very good in transition. Hes also exceptional at setting guys up in the slot from along the walls. He would be a great pickup for Colorado because he stylistically fits into their system as the best team in the league at scoring off the rush which he is able to do but he also would bring a different element to the avs

I'm not sold he's anything more than what he is. He's a solid defensive 3rd liner who will leave you wanting offensively. If I thought he had the upside to have top 6 upside, I'd do it, but I'm just not convinced. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving a 2nd and 3rd for a defensive winger. Sens could use those picks to target players with higher upside.

I agree. I wouldn't make this trade. I would rather give the ice time to a younger guy like Formenton.

If you want MoJo at TDL you can have him if we are out of a playoff spot. Your 2021 2nd would be appropriate

You could be right, but he has yet to play an NHL game as a 22 year old and it's not like he's Curtis Lazar bad. Jost has shown some offensive flashes and is a consistent shutdown player. Maybe swapping the 3rd for 4th, or the CBJ 2nd rd pick to the DAL pick? I wouldn't go chasing after this deal, but for the right price... I'm open to it.

The most I'd give is Dallas' 2nd round pick. If they want more I'd pass.

Totally worth the gamble at that price, but I doubt the AVS do it.
