Boston declines, Krug and Carlo are they're only guaranteed defensemen for a while I believe, and plus its a division rival so they probably wouldn't trade him to TOR.

Short memory you have. There were a couple games in the last toronto boston series where he was the best player on the ice for either team. Not just me saying it. Both McKenzie and Lebrun were of the same opinion.

Krug is literally a UFA whenever this season ends or is called off. Did you mean mcavoy?

James neal scored 7 goals in 3 games this year but we both know sample sizes that small mean very little

Oh my bad. I just wanted to give you a reference point that i know you saw, when Carlo put your entire franchise in a body bag in game 6 (there was another one too, I can’t remember which game).

If you want to avoid small sample sizes, I’ll just say he’s way better than you give him credit for, and leave it at that.

Edit: i think a better way to describe it is that there is now a very large sample size of dominant Carlo games, and probably a very small sample size of ones you have seen.

That fair, let's look at the current seasons. Im sure we could agree that is a good sample size. Of d-men who logged at least 1,000 minutes of 5v5 hockey (99 d-men qualified) Carlo ranked the following

SA - 17th
GA - 1st
xGA - 14th
SCA - 16th
HDCA - 9th
HDGA - 5th

Defensivley Carlo is easily a top 15 d-men in the NHL (maybe top 10) and does it while having to cover for Krug, whose slightly below average defensively. Krug can do what he does offensivley because Carlo is there to save him when he gets caught out of position.

It’s a short list. Starts with Carlo and parayko.

Aside from the 1st, it's a bunch of TOR spare parts.

I just don't understand how overvalued Johnsson is on this site.

He's a good player, great story of a 7th rounder making himself a career, but overrated. A 40pt player on a high octane team like Toronto is a 30pt player on NJ or LA.

Good complimentary piece but not a player that's getting you a top 4 D

Interestingly enough I think someone like Grz could open up Carlo's game as Grz is a much better defender than Krug. That part of the reason I'm also ok if Krig walks because his ask is too high

Nothing in this deal minus a low 1st round pick is anything Bruins need.

Carlo is gonna be a tough piece for Bruins trade, young cost controlled stay at home D-man can’t really be replaced. On the bruins side, Johnsson and Kerfoot just kind of create a log jam in the forward group and their cap hits would hurt a lot of our flexibility. The only way I see Bruins parting with Carlo is if he’s packaged in for a Franchise player who makes sense for the Bruins. But unlikely, nonetheless.
