Good trades imo, but MTL ain't moving Gallagher.

He's next to god for Habs fans.

For a rental? Maybe if he signed an extension. Ottawa didn’t even get an A prospect for Duchene. And Stone had he not signed an extension. Hall didn’t get an A prospect

Once again I lodge my standing objection to trading the eighth overall pick for anything less than Hertl and the San Jose second or Domi and the Chicago second.

I think i could be talked into this years first for hertl or cirelli, but this clown show of a franchise has no business trading multiple firsts any time soon. Gallagher would be here for one shortened season before strutting into ufa. Im not an advanced stat guy, does gallagher drive his line, because i think most wingers are complimentary pieces anyways. Pass pretty hard.

Hertl is better than Duchene. He's a Stone calibre player except he's on contract for 2 more years at a very team friendly number. Pretty sure he gets an A prospect. Take out the 2020 1st and throw Cozens in for that trade.

Also I definitely wouldn't do that trade for Montour. Most teams wouldn't even give their 2nd for Montour whereas I think Tierney could realistically fetch a 1st round pick.

A trade I might do would be... Montour + pick #38 for Tierney + Reilly

Gallagher has scored more 5 on 5 goals in the last three years than anyone else EXCEPT Ovechkin, McDavid, Kucherov and Mathews so that should tell you what it would take to get him even as a rental!

See link here but you will have to scroll to the bottom to find Gallagher's part

On a more serious note though we Habs fans do value him more than anybody could understand and really have no interest in seeing him leave MTL. He is just about the most valued player on the team and other fans' opinions on what a fair offer for him consist of are of no concern. We have him and don't want to sell, it's pretty much that simple.

be honest, do u think the Sabres should trade their 1st this year? it holds value and could get their temporary 2C, but I'd rather have a guy like Holtz for the future

Habs aren't going to move Gallagher but I do believe he is exactly what the Sabres need up front. (Aside from a quality #2 center)

I think every team needs a Gallagher frankly. Hence why the Habs value him so abnormally high.

Ottawa moved Pageau which means they pretty have to keep Tierney, don't they? Or is your goal to make sure we have the best shot at Aatu Räty?

Totally agree, I think a long term extended Domi is better for the Sabres then the risk of Hertl walking, Sabres management would need to be pretty certain they could get Domi signed before making the trade but if they could then I think it's worth it for Buffalo, a 2C/top 6 forward that helps NOW and gets the Sabres at least closer to being a playoff team or a prospect that's at least two seasons away and likely two more seasons of no playoffs in Buffalo, I can't believe it's even up for debate really at this point, what has it been 8 years without a playoff appearance?

Tierney will be replaced by Norris. Anisimov will be replaced by Chlapik. Duclair will be replaced by Formenton

I've noticed a player is always better when it comes to trades then when it comes to bring paid.

This ACGM has Reinhart, never scored 30 goals getting 7x7. What does Gallagher get after next season?? He's older so 7 years is probably out. Does Montreal pay him 5x9???

If 9 is what it takes to keep him then so be it. Losing him would be the Habs losing their soul. You just can't put a price on the effect he has on the team.

Agree. Despite way overpaying Price Montreal is in really good spot cap wise and has plenty of picks/prospects to fill roster...

I think that could work EVENTUALLY, but if that's how we start next season it is going to be reeeeeally painful to watch.

Gally is 28 so yeas he is older but he will still get an 8 year deal locking him up until he is 36 which is not unrealistic.
