Grans is a huge project defensively. Watch Draftdynasty on YouTube for some more insight. He’s a RHD and good puck mover, but a definite project

Surely Brassard would get more money. At least 2M I would think. I would swap Brassard, and Archibald with Haas and Neal as well for the lines. I think Brassard and Archibald is way better and should be on the 3rd line over Haas and Neal.

You also have to remember that almost everyone after 15th OA is a project, even alot of them in the top 15, and if he fails on d, he'll have the speedy Broberg to help him out, Grans plays a offensive type of game and is a power play specialist, by the time him and Broberg make it to the roster, it should look a little something like this

Nurse/Bouchard
Broberg/Grans
Samorukov/UFA

HOPEFULLY they pick someone good at shutting down the opposition, someone like Gudas or some other big right handed defenceman

From my research, hes pretty much a lock for making the NHL but hes likely not a top line talent. I really dont think Edmonton should deaft a defneder though, they have so many promising defensive prospects and not enough wingers

Idk where you are hearing Grans is an offensive d-man hes known for his strong defensive game and safe play in the offensive zone.

Grans does not play an offensive game, hes a very defensive player with some 2-way game.

What happened to Bear in your pairs?

Or they could keep larsson and not worry about drafting a defensive shut down d and spend 4-5 years developing. I don’t understand why he gets written off on this site. If playoffs start tomorrow he’s the top RD on the team. Bear is good but it’s not close Larson is the muscle

Start watching at the 9 minute mark. You must have him confused with someone else. This player has tools but is gonna need some time.

Bear gets traded for prospects IMO, need to amp up our 3rd line, Roslovic might be a good person to start a trade trend with, Roslovic for Bear in a one for one deal, Larsson walks to create cap space after next year, by the time we let him go, Broberg, Grans, Bouchard, Samorukov should be ready to enter the league, I'd like to keep Nurse for as long as we have McDavid and Draisaitl on the team

Why spend another 1st on a defenseman? Defense is where the team and prospect pool are deepest. They should pick the best forward available - preferably C or LW.

If we're late in the first,I think Grans is the way to go, but then if we're in the early 20's and not mid 20's then I'd try to go for Amirov or Jarvis gunler too seems like a good pick, I've kept my eye on Grans since last season and I think the kid deserves to get picked late in the first or super early in the second, yeah he's a defenceman but if he can progress quickly and properly, these guy's entry level contract would help clear huge amounts of capspace to keep guys like Nurse, Yams, Nuge, Benson, McLeod, and hopefully a proper goalie from free agency, Bouchard is gonna want big bucks too and with term, thinking about the future and now now, after all, all our prospects are projects, and if we can develop them properly, we could get rid of guys like Klefbom, Larsson, Bear, Neal, who i feel will all not be much more worth to the team considering all the young talent coming up

Drafting a defenseman doesn't help with the cap any more than drafting a forward.

McLeod and Benson are not on track for large contracts, while Bouchard has 3 years on ELC before he needs another contract, exactly when Neal's contract ends. Easy peasy.

true, but drafting another defenceman would solidify the defense and d core, there's nothing phenomenal on our back end until Bouchard comes up i believe and even then he'll be our best and only puck mover by then, keep in mind that I'm hoping that we move bear for assets and AA to, idk, that just my opinion,

Yeah, I can't agree. The defense corps is already solid. On LD the Oilers have 5 NHL defensemen:

Nurse
Klefbom
Jones
Russell
Lagesson

+Samorukov will arrive in a year
+Broberg will arrive in 2 years
+They also have guys that can / will be able to fill in 3rd pairing / 7th man like Lennstrom and Niemelainen.

On RD they have 4 NHL players:

Bear
Larsson
Green
Benning

+Bouchard will arrive imminently
+Berglund is NHL ready
+Kemp will arrive in 2 years
+Kesselring in 3 (if he does)

Zero reason to draft a defenseman with the 1st round pick this fall. None.
