Moves that need done

Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2020
Published: Jul. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Edmonton wants to challenge right away they need to move a number of players to clear up cap space. Ottawa takes on veterans contracts but also get another 1st rounder in a deep draft, to stock up for the future. With the cap situation some players will have to take less, Smith, Soucy, Innis, Brown. but they get to play at home for some and with the two best players in the game.

Ottawa won’t retain on Ryan when adding that much to payroll.
Neal is a very good pp specialist believing he has as much negative value as this site suggests is a joke.
Russell has one year left and is a very useful defender
Chaisson only has a year left.
Let contracts expire rather than piss away a first rounder

He's tradeable, but it would probably be for another bad contract.

He's very good on the PP obviously, but is almost a non threat 5 on 5. Essentially half of his goals came in 3 games (4 vs NYI, 3 vs NYR and 2 vs LA). 17 of his 31pts on the PP too. He obliterated his career high in shooting percentage in his age 32 season, probably gonna be talking about a dip in that number going forward.

Listen it was a good trade by Holland, they needed scoring and got it. Neal is a good Oiler and brings value as a PP specialist. With a flat cap and Neal being pigeonholed to a bottom 6 PP role it may be difficult to get anything of real value for him though.

I can see a lot of teams being interested in him at 4 million with some term. His term I think becomes a selling point. Financial stability threw next 3 years. Retain 1,750,000 over three years is better than buy out. Panthers prefer that over resigning Hoffman?dadonov? Could Ottawa be interested in his veteran presence while having a ton of picks? I really don’t think it would be that hard to move him.
