I'd sign Nick Paul and let Hawryluk go. You forgot to sign and place Puljujarvi. I'm guess he slots in somewhere top 6 RW and this bumps Abramov back to Belleville.
Not sure why Logan Brown is on the top line. I'm hoping he gets to stay in Ottawa but he hasn't really proven he belongs just yet...

A prospect that’s barely an AHL backup and a late 2nd? Yea they can do better.

He still has potential as a goalie prospect and you also get rid of Russell for 1 year to get someone potentially at the deadline. 2 months ago everyone agreed that Puljujarvi was barely worth a 2nd. They aren’t dealing him from a position of leverage and I’m not sure he’s going to sign with the Oilers ever again

Not regressed. Started the year meh but finished strong. He’s still young. Daccord was like 2 years older so of course he was backing him up. I think goalies should be somewhere around 23-25 before making the NHL, there are exceptions tho

They don’t need to move Russell. Yes it would be a preference but not a need. And it’s not like Russell has negative value. He’s still a capable NHL player that can play both sides and can play big minutes if necessary. He’s actually exactly what Ottawa needs. One year left let the young guys continue to develop and he only costs 1.5M for a 4M cap hit.

it's just that in a flat cap world, oilers can't afford to keep russell

Who cares if he’s not gonna sign they still hold his rights for 6 years. And the only people who thought he was barely worth a 2nd were people who tried to convince oilers fans he not worth it so they could justify their lowball offer for him. Funny how that works.

Zero reason to give away JP. Top six young forward with his upside is worth a heck of a lot more than a 2nd. As mentioned in some comments. Russell isn’t nearly as big of a deal as people suggest moving is far from being needed he’s still very useful.

The first 40 picks of the draft will sail past with no one biting on Puljujarvi and then EDM will jump on any team offering a 2nd rounder.
