As Per Rumoured New CBA - Part 2

Created by: arafay
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2020
Published: Jul. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Aqccording to Elliotte Friedman, the new cba stipulates that the cap will be flat (81.5M) for the next 2 season and then will raise 1M. Considering the jets have to sign a few big names after next season (pionk, laine), I just wanted to see how it would look. Additionally, this is as realistic as possible, that is no lafrenniere and for arguments sake, our first is #17. I made the first 2 picks of the 2020 draft in part 1 (zary and villeneuve) and o signed both. I don’t think villeneve will be nhl ready but zary will be eligible for the ahl so he will at least be there (thinking he will get a few games in the nhl.

Jets protection list for the expansion draft is as follows:
Forwards: scheifele, laine, ehlers, wheeler, Connor, roslovic, copp
Defense: Morrissey, pionk, demelo
Hellebuyck

Notable exposed are niku, eakin, harkins, berdin, appleton.

Jets send harkins and a 2nd (or drop from the first round to the 2nd round...whichever is possible after 2021 tdl) for them to stay off the rest.

Laine contract won’t be that big, but nice to see it fit under flat cap. It’ll likely land at 5-6x9

I’d rather pay him more and sign him longer

Somebody overpays Lowry in free agency or just doesn’t fit

I am pleasantly surprised to see that CBOs are not something you went into. CBOs are a wet dream for players that I'm not convinced the owners would agree to unless the PA gave something to the owners.

Interesting to see the different opinions on Laine long term vs short term money wise.

Wasn’t taking about Lowry nor did I resign him. Would like to bring him back, but as you said. Someone will over pay him

Yeah, unless the cap goes down, there isn’t going to be a cba. Even if it does go down, I think a 1 player cap exemption is more likely.

Even then I doubt it. How is the cap limit met in such a case? Salary rollbacks.
Bet you the two sides are discussing how to go about next season without fans and that means rollbacks would be more real than people here on capfriendly are willing to address.

The interesting thing would be, how much Laine and Pionk get in a salary rollbacks era.

    Your thoughts?

Honestly, I don’t think the players would ever agree for salary rollbacks. Considering they are trying to eliminate escrow, I doubt they would ever agree for rollbacks
