Description

There's been rumours that Nilsson's current concussion could be career-ending, so if this is true and he is unable to return, this creates an interesting situation for the Sens where Anderson is likely to retire and Hogberg isn't ready to be a full-time starter, but we're not good enough to sign a starter in free agency and trading a big package for one would be a waste.

Also act like this is 2020-21 since I didn't feel like fixing the lines.

Abramov is a boom or bust: I’d rather gamble on the boom. Desmith isn’t worth more than a 3rd for a guy who was buried and no one wanted to trade for

Fair enough. We could also do Davidsson and downgrade the 4th to a 6th instead. What do you think about DeSmith as a possible cheap replacement for Nilsson though?

I like him but it’s risky rolling with 2 unproven starters. But I like it since I’m hoping for a top 5 pick next year

if he cant play anymore leafs will take him and throw him to LTIR. We can use that 2.6mill extra cap space.

I would see about Jake Allen instead. Hog showed promise this year, but still needs someone who can take 40-50 games, a big chunk of starts, and that's not Desmith. I imagine he could be had cheap given the Blues cap crunch.

I think paying a little extra to get someone to support Hog is worth it. It wouldn't be good to just throw him into 50+starts.

Talbot possibly could take a 1 year contract with a 4 mill AAV. Overpay a bit but only 1 year

I hadn't thought of Allen, I like that a lot more than DeSmith though. He had a huge bounceback this season and is an expensive backup for the Blues that need cap space to sign Pietrangelo.

I'd rather have Jake Allen than Cam Talbot for one year.

Also Robin Lehner is supposedly interested in returning, though I don't know why. If you could get him on a mid term deal, that could be an option.

3 years at 4.5 mill? Gives him some term and us some cap flexibility. Allows him to play major starter minutes to help Hogberg and if the right deal comes around to trade him to a contender it benefits both teams and himself

Ya I just meant it isn't worth it for Ottawa to go to much higher than 4.5 or 5 mill. If the rumors are true that he wants to return he is going to have to take less than he could get for it to be worth while for Ottawa. Also can't see more than 6 or 7 teams in the market for Lehner that will have the cap space for him.
