Not with that defense, unless Thornton plays until he's 50.

That defence is much better than you are giving it credit and hopefully you realize the effect of key injuries to Rielly, Muzzen, Dermott and a mid season coaching change is not going to occur during the 2020-2021 season.

putting him on the 2nd line spells disaster. He is old, slow, and wont keep up with the 2 stars. He could play a 4th line role with spezza

Oh right it's you, the biggest homer of the site. That didn't surprise me at all.

Jumbo on the second line would slow everything down. I'd rather throw him on the 4th line with Clifford and Engvall to make a checking 4th line.

Rock out with
Hyman-Matthews-Marner/Nylander
Mikheyev-Tavares-Marner/Nylander
Kappy-Insert 3C here (could be Kerfoot)-Spezza
Clifford-Thornton-Engvall
Rielly-Dermott (or RHD equivalent, not named Montour)
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Dermott/Lehtonen

Then have Barbanov and Marincin as extras (Let Lily get more time in the A to grow)

I also don't think Jumbo will bring a cup home. He'd be one of the only Leafs able to grow a Playoff beard though (and Muzz too).

Yeah. But it's fun to tease you a bit. You're pretty negative on all the Leafs posts (I get that they are all pretty stupid and one sided, but at least try to be constructive)

He is a homer but if you think he's the biggest homer on the site you're sadly mistaken.

It’s not even that I’m negative on all the leafs posts. Just it annoys me when people think that Justin Holl is a top 4 shutdown defenseman and that Sandin and Lilli are NHL ready (although Sandin is more ready than Lil). To be honest with you, I’m a closet leafs fan. Just annoys me that their fan base overvalues their players so much. Granted, all fan bases do, but when Toronto is the center of the hockey universe, it’s hard to escape. You’re right, I have been harsh on leafs fans and I apologize for being so rude.

Gonna be happy the day the leafs win the cup tbh. It’s killing me that we haven’t won it since ‘94, can’t imagine what it’s like for you guys.

You might be right about what line he plays on but you and I both know he would still be deadly on the powerplay. He also has tremendous leadership skills and I think he would find the fountain of youth playing in Toronto. I think the success of the Spezza deal makes it even more likely that Dubas goes back to the well with Thornton and do not underestimate his abilities.

I am a die hard Leafs fan from the westcoast of Canada and the Leafs fan base is increditable. You need to book a flight to Vancouver and watch the Canucks play the Leafs at home with approximately 10,000 Leafs fans at the game and then you will know what I am talking about and you will have a different perspective.

It's been a long wait but there is going to be nothing like it when they win this cup. The Leafs Championship parade is going to blow the socks off the Raptors Championship
celebrations.

Glad you guys won in 1994 but it was a tough loss for all of us living on westcoast of Canada as Canucks could have easily won the cup that year.

Johnson has to go for cap relief. Tood bad as he is a good player but wondering if his stats were inflated playing with Matthews that one year and whether he can actually stay healthy.

Try going to a game in Detroit when the Leafs fans can simply drive and long-time Wings season ticket holders are happy to sell anyone the tickets rather than watch the product of Ken Holland's years of neglect and bad contracts. Last game there the Leafs won 6-0 attendance was 19.5k--not that many Wings fans esp by the end of the game (Bernier had the flu. Howard got hurt. They were in the process of summoning the emergency goalie and Bernier went in instead after a long delay posted a 0.925 on 40 shots and this was a few games after Babcock got canned).
