Leafs would never give up all those great young players for Bear.

Wow... that Edmonton trade. So the Leafs give up two NHLers + a prospect and pick for one NHLer?

Yeah... not happening.

I argue Kap for bear simple 1 for 1 benefits both sides. If necessary throw in dermott

Not sure what is fair but this is definitely overpayment. Bear also has not spent enough time in NHL yet for anyone to put this much faith in him.

This is not a slag on Bear, just that I feel we need to see more of him at this level before assigning such high value to him.

Honestly, I think it's a gamble for Edmonton to move him.

Maybe. That seems more fair. Maybe Kerfoot + something instead? But that is the right idea imo.

Yep that's fair as Dermott can play well, buchard can come up and replace bear and oilers get a solid top 6 forward

Like bear had 1good season and some people think he's worth nylander. Give me a break. If kapenan can get Murphy, Miller, Montour, ristolinen, severson, etc bear isn't that far out of his league and in general (Dermott+Kapenan for bear) is fair

I really disagree with trading Dermot...one NHL Dman, just to obtain another. So now Rosen or Marincin are the 7th and 8th guys, and in case of injuries they now get regular long term minutes. Again it's a fascination with other teams RHD, that the Leafs have to give up so much. By this post the Leafs have a unmanageable 21 man roster, no cap. Keep Dermot and have 2m in additional

No thanks from Edmonton we need Bear for our right handed defence, and we don’t need Dermott. On our left we already have Klefbom, Nurse, Jones. There would be no room for Dermott. Without Bear our right side would be too weak..

Bear has played nearly 2000 minutes in the NHL, mostly facing the toughest competition. Kapanen has played about 3000 minutes in the NHL, mostly in a more sheltered role. I think NHL evaluators are probably more comfortable projecting Bear right now than Kapanen as they've seen him play top of the order already.

I don't see why Edmonton would make this trade either.

We need Bear to hold our rhd down.

Come back if Bouchard starts doing really well this year.

If NSH trades Bonino, I think it would be to free up cap space. This deal doesn't do that. It's not terrible value or anything, I just think they would be looking for a different kind of deal - especially with the salary cap over the next 3 years.

Tricker you know on CapFriendly, once a player gets traded, the masses pour in trying to do "a better trade". Reilly, Muzzin, Holl and Dermot are the only sure fire NHL Dmen the Leafs have. To trade the inexpensive Dermot.....just nonsensical folly.
