That would be insane, To give up that many pieces just to move up 4 spots.

Yeah i agree, Not sure there enough quality there. No reason to give up 8 pieces just to move up 4 spots. Then Sens are already going to get 2 elite players in this years draft.

to be fair nobody is getting 1OA without giving up a ton. OTT has so many picks that i dont think they would mind spending 5 extra to get Laf, but i guess that depends on what ottawas scouting staff thinks about rounds 2 and 3.

This is true, It will cost tons to move up 4 spots. Not sure i'd do it but whatever.

I don't think that they can part ways with Batherson, NYI 1st and Ott 33OA. I'd give up two of three, 5OA and then all those other pieces. Add in an NHL ready player if the team is pushing for the playoffs next season

It would certainly be interesting to see if Ottawa makes a move for #1, they certainly have the assets for it, however I don't know if they're willing to give all that up. I'd move Filip Gustavsson instead of Batherson though that's for sure. I think Ottawa is better off drafting 3 and 5 though and keeping those assets.

Instead of Lafreniere we should just go for Byfield and Drysdale, because you can get 1 amazing player or 2 great layers, and at this time it might be better to get that quality center and good Right Handed dman, instead of just 1 winger.

in this trade, they would still have 3OA. they would be swapping 5th for 1st

Lafreniere isn't worth selling the farm for, especially given the quality of players at 5th. He's not a franchise defining C or D.

I mean, Patrick Kane went #1 and he was franchise defining. Toews went 3 and was still huge, so who's to say Lafreniere isn't going to be franchise defining? In this scenario, OTT gets #1 and #3. I think they're better suited moving Gustavsson or Logan Brown instead of Batherson though.

I'm not suggesting he's not a potentially franchise altering player, I just don't think I'd be willing to move heaven and earth to acquire him compared to an equivalent C or D.

Even if he ends up being a top 5 winger in the league, in my opinion, it's unlikely that he would ever provide more value than what they would end up giving up. For example, is Lafreniere better than Batherson, Drysdale, Jarvis? I don't necessarily think so, and Ottawa still gives up three 2nds one of them being 33rd overall, and a 3rd.

That's fair, but you could also argue #1 and #3 would provide more value than the pieces you mentioned. I don't think moving Batherson is a good idea though. At the end of the day, it really depends on the team that gets the pick and what they'd potentially be looking for as a return.
