That Miro trade is, to be polite, funny. Habs have no roster player to trade one on one for Miro. I would not even trade Lafrenière for Miro.

I meant to add to the details that Lindell could be swapped for Heiskanen but thought the Stars and fans were bigger on Lindell

I would do Lindell for Drouin or Domi one on one. Lindell is very very very far from Miro. Miro is the same category of Makar and Dahlin. Not the same style for sure but he will fight for the Norris against those two for many years to come.

I'm sure there are other teams out there interested in Mete. Although, I don't know if any would pay that price for him.

My guess is a 4th or a later pick. Lindell and Tatar one on one is close to equal value. This, if you allocate value to the defensive side of things in hockey and elite play on the PK.

Uhh, Chicago's pick is 40th and is considered an EARLY pick but the Av's your right is a late pick (58th) (BTW 2nd round and later picks are based on season standings not playoff performance therefore they are set)

even IF they win the cup the second round picks are set on season standings NOT playoff performance so it remains 40th

Pretty sure you need to research how much it costs to move up in the draft. This isn't it at all.

In all of the past drafts, the winner of the cup always got the last pick of the second round
in 2019 Blues got the 62nd pick
in 2018 Washington got it but it was traded to Edmonton
In 2017 Pittsburgh got it but it was traded to vegas

Fair enough but who really thinks the Hawks are going to make the playoffs let alone win the cup. I mean yeah it could happen but you could also walk outside today and get hit by a bus.

2 2nds for a mid to late 1st is fair value especially an early second that is basically a 1st already!

in general it is 2 picks in the next round for 1 in the higher round

I would prefer Domi or Drouin because of the contract status of those 3 players. Drouin would be my first choice since the two contracts negates themselves.

But Dallas is so desperate for offense then Nill could take Tatar with the extension if this new contract would not unable the Stars to sign Miro next year.

#58 is fair value if you're moving from 24 to 20, but not even close if you're looking to move from 40 to 20.

Edit: I'm being generous here, 58 probably isn't enough to get Edmonton to move back 4 spots in this draft - especially since experts generally agree that there's a drop-off in talent around 22-24. See below for some actual trades.

Here are some actual trades:

In 2018 NYR moved up to #22 for the cost of #26 and #48.
In 2017 DAL moved up to #26 for the cost of #29 and #70.
In 2015 PHI moved up to #24 for the cost of #29 and #61.
In 2015 CLB moved up to #29 for the cost of #34 and #68.

Your Oilers trade is not close to real life value.
