I actually think Pietrangelo is not going to get the the $11,000,000 per year salary he was hoping for now with the covid situation. Do think the Leafs are an attractive destination for him and not surprised he signs in Toronto.

its already been decided that the cap is going to stay flat for next season so you are about 2500000 short of making this work.

1. Leafs are probably not losing the Play-in vs the Blue Jackets

2. Next seasons cap is already set at 81.5 and will stay there for 2021-2022 season as well. So you need to shave another 3+ mil almost 4 mil off your payroll

Christ those trades are awful.. Pietrangelo would be actually quite nice, but not for 11M.. he would make like 8.5-9M

laugh laugh $2.5 million over the current cap, Still need to sign 3 more players with 0 cap space. Fat chance of Pietrangelo playing in Toronto. And the Leafs are the last team that can afford pietrangelo anyways.

I'm all for signing a guy like AP. Not at that price point though. The Leafs are not in a position to be signing another UFA for 11 million dollars.

The cap will not be that high. It is set at 81.5 million dollars for the next two years. That fact alone invalidates the entire concept.

Your roster is also too thin and you have no cap space left to do anything anyways.

Nope.

And how do you propose that the Leafs are coming up with $9.5 million to sign Alex Pietrangelo. They're just as much in cap hell as Tampa Vegas and St louis. They just don't have expensive contracts to sign is all.

Leaf's fans are already planning to lose in the play-in round while playing at home.

"are probably not losing" doesn't instill a lot of confidence. Here is an example, you are probably not losing your urge to make the playoffs this year?

Even if this all played out, good luck in 3 years when Laf needs a new contract and you still have 4 players signed at $11M/yr. Laf will likely command at least $8M himself if he’s able to live up to the hype. I guess at that point we can revisit the trade Marner scenario for the umpteenth time.

Kapenan for a 3rd tears of joy LUL way under his value. The guy can grab a late 1st PASS.
This is complete garbage as you have undervalued everyone but Johnsson.

The only way they should sign Pietrangelo is if they are trading away Marner. You cannot have 4 guys in Marner, Tavares, Matthews and Pietrangelo that eat almost 45m of your cap. What the Leafs need is acutal depth rather than adding more stars. Good luck with paying 35m to a total of 19 players.

You must be out of your mind if you think the Leafs should trade away Marner.

Its funny how no one in the Leafs organization is complaining about Marner's contract.

Easy answer. A lot of Maple Leafs Fans still think what some old guy who was reomoved from TV said. They believe that the Leafs should be all from Ontario or at least Canada. The contract of Marner shows that he does not care if he is playing in Toronto or Carolina.
