I would think jones is worth much more than Virtanen

Hasn't played a full NHL season and is 23 years old.

Later pick development has been consistent and did sign a two year extension for next to nothing oilers would value him as a cheap option that’s shown a lot of promise.

I would think that would be advantageous for both teams. Edmonton probably accepts, as long as it looks like 1 of Broberg, Samorukov, or Lagesson makes the roster next season

Definitely agree that he has value. With Edmonton, he is likely the 3rd pair dman with Klefbom and Nurse ahead of him.

Don't forget the effect of the expansion draft. Presumably, the Oilers will protect Klefbom, Nurse and Bear. Better to trade Jones now than lose him for free.

I’d agree but I don’t think a depth winger is what holland would be interested in moving jones for.

You don't think that Virtanen would beat out Chiasson, Kassian and Archibald for #2 RW?

Is he fast? If so he could maybe get paired up with McDavid and AA. Kassian is just there because of his size, and for a big guy he has decent speed, and shot. Archibald will be 3rd line, and Chiasson better be 4th.

Archy and Chiasson don’t play second line ever. Kassian gets top six minutes because he’s handy with mcdavid physical and good at recovering pucks. Have yam to play with Leon I just don’t think oilers would be interested in Virtanen if he played centre and could cover 3c maybe conversation is different.

Virtanen is fast, has a good shot and can hit.

Dude. Jones is a depth dman for your team and will continue to be one unless he is claimed in the expansion draft.

You've made my point. Archibald and Chiasson don't come close to competing with Virtanen and Virtanen is younger and faster than Kassian, with equal physicality. I specified #2 RW because I know that Yamamoto is going to be considered the #1 RW no matter who he plays with.

Broberg has already committed to SHL and Samorukov to KHL. So that leaves just Lagesson.

That could be a good trade then, because he could play with McDavid and AA. Wouldn’t he be your bottom pairing defence man? Because you have Edler, and Hughes..

I’m not against moving jones but for a depth winger not preferable unless they addressed 3c in another manner.

I don't mind the trade, honestly. The value is close, I think it would depend on whether Holland can convince Puljujarvi to come back or not. If the big Finn returns I don't see Holland making this deal.
