    Awful for TOR.

Severson doesn't help TOR since he's pretty offense minded (not saying he's a disaster at defense tho) so a deal would start with ARI's and VAN's 2020 1st rounder

Just stop with these Marner trades. Capfriendly has seen enough for a bit.

The biggest issue with these Marner trades is the Leafs don't really end up getting that steady defensive D they lack for Rielly as a partner.

I think you need to change your name back to your real name and come clean on CapFriendly that you are really a Penguins fan who is extremely jealous of Marner and the Leafs. Marner is a franchise player who the Leafs will never trade.

laugh laugh What part of Palmieri not wanting to play in Canada don't you understand? And Detroit is more then likely taking Perfetti at #4 so i doubt he falls to #7.

The Leafs retaining salary was the best part of this imaginary deal

They always retain, but its always some random amount between 1.5 and 2 mill

Retained on Kessel and Lehner.. that is it. A team that is right up against the cap isnt going to retain salary... especially when its already a bad 1 sided deal

yes about Marner... but I don't know that too many pens fans are jealous of the leafs, given that they've had 3 cups since '09 including back to back a few years ago, and given that we haven't seen a cup in Toronto in over 50 years

What’s with palmieri? This is like the 5th trade where it’s him for some superstar like eichle, marner Gaudreau etc...I don’t understand why his value is being shopped so insanely high by NJ fans

Also Toronto doesn’t touch this with a 10’ pole and that’s coming from a flames fan

All those achievements are wonderful but they are also in the past and most likely will not occur again in the future. I think MitchMarnerElite is going through some tough times accepting this fact and explains his jealousy of Marner and the Leafs.

Severson’s expected goals against over the past 2 seasons ranks in the 50th percentile while his shots against per 60 rank in the 85th. So I think that’s pretty solid defensive work despite playing on a bad team. Plus, he can move the puck as well.

I disagree I think the majority of defenders I’ve sent to Toronto have steady 2 way / defensive presences (I.e Ellis, Manson, Roy, Severson). Statistically, they all have a pretty good xGA.

When I have traded for an OFD (Klingberg), I made sure TOR cleared enough cap space to sign someone else like DeMelo.

I believe NJ wants a Hall-like return for Palmieri.

Are you gonna Tonya Harding Schneiders knees to get him on IR. I think the team is great. Incredibly NHL 21ish. Perfetti won't get outta the Top 5. Quinn is realistic as long Arizona stays outta the Top 3. I'd prefer to hold onto Boqvist. It'll probably cost more than a 2nd rd pick to get rid of Subban. With all the cap space, just ride him out. Maybe with some more talent around him he's less terrible? Smith is a solid choice as a back up. I actually don't think the Marner deal is all that terrible. I just don't think the Leafs deal him. They'd probably want the 2nd rd pick to be another 1st. Young franchise player.

We'll agree to disagree. Ellis is 30 and heading out of his prime which is why he is not what I would like to add. Manson 3 years ago would be the D I'd add but he's more valuable to Anaheim at this point than for Toronto.

Severson is not good enough imo. Roy I have not seen enough of so I would not just blindly say yes to a trade for him.

Overall trading Marner means trading a guy who has not even entered his prime yet and that is a lose-lose situation.

Also, not that I'm a big believer in Hall... but at least he a former MVP. Palmieri isn't even a quarter of that.

Talk about player values being way off...Yeesh.

All your trades are total garbage for the Leafs. You need to realize that you never win a trade when you trade the best player away in Marner. If you really followed hockey, you would realize this fact and would never consider trading Marner in the first place.

I think it's a decent trade for Marner. Toronto still probably says no. Contracts for the RFAs and UFAs seem pretty solid. I can't see Hamilton getting that much without the cap going up
