Trading Kampf is definitely not what the hawks need, he's been good for the hawks as a shut down player

Wings decline. We have no need for Smith and he's making over $3 million. If we were to take him on we would get picks, not give up picks.

My bad. I just realized that we were acquiring a 3rd with him in exchange for a 4th (I originally thought we were giving up a 3rd for Smith+4th). Value would be closer then but we'd still probably decline. Maybe Smith + 3rd for 6th/7th

I think that trade is benefiting the Hawks a lot, but the Hawks do have Highmore and Carpenter who have been shut down player and can play center

Colliton loves Kampf way too much. He's been solid, but he's really not much better than carpenter and carpenter is way better at faceoffs. Kampf is serviceable, but colliton and stan think he's the nect kruger and the expirement is failing. Tuch is also good defensivly and is definetly worth the upgrade

You guys can buy him out for only 1 million. The upgrade from the 4th to the 3rd round is fair value for 1 mil of cap space

Wow. I didn’t realize he was that cheap to buy out. In that case I would probably do it.

Well I don't think the trade works, Vegas declines, the point being young cost controlled depth guys are extra important in this current financial environment.

Kampf is a young cost controlled depth guy, and so would the 2nd and 4th round draft picks. Plus VGK needs to shed salary and already have a bunch of wingers. This deal saves them 3.75 mil. When a team needs to shed salary, the 5 million dollar 3rd liner is usually one of the first to go
