Description
What I have now is that Leafs could be aiming for Gudas or DeMelo in free agency. I think its gonna be Gudas. He fits Leafs style nicely. Also 2/3 of Johnsson, Kerfoot and Kapanen are pretty much gone if they aim at Gudas. Just not sure which two those are.. I think those are going to be Kapanen and Kerfoot since Leafs love Johnsson and they would like tho get his price up. People would love Kapanen to stay, I would too, but like, there are some hurdles. Keefe and Kap or generally the coaching staff has rough relationship with Kapanen so he might be first to go from that trio. Kapanen could go for a late first or prospect and 2nd depending on what would be available but I see chances of him getting moved bigger than those of him staying.

Sabres pass Kerfoot is not worth a second, let alone a high second

Sure, don't really see how that trade makes the Leafs any better , 2nd rnd picks and mid level prospects do nothing to improve TO

Lundestrom and a second, eh? No thanks. Kap is good, but he's not worth a recent 1st+high 2nd.

Not to the Sabres. Maybe a contending team with a pick at the end of the second round that feels there biggest need is a bottom 6 center.

ik you l believe in Lundestrom... and I trust your prosaic evaluations more than most, and ik the Ducks really don't need Kap, I'm gonna have to pass on that trade

They also seem to like Laaksonen. Can't see them doing this.

Then dont do Laaksonen and Duszak in that deal. Just 2nd for Kerfoot. Ideal player for Sabres.

He is not the ideal player for the Sabres. The ideal player for the Sabres is a 60 -70 point play driving 2C. Not a 35-45 point 3C playing out of position at 2C. We already have Cozens and other options to play 3C for the next couple of years. What the Sabres lack Kerfoot doesn't offer. If we had a third round pick it might be worth it for the Sabres to acquire this player and put him on Cozens wing to be able to help with draws and some tougher defensive matchups but even then that is a heavy cap hit for 3 years for 3rd LW. But again a better partner in this deal would be a contending team that has less of a need to continue building their prospect pool
