If we chose to rebuild I think we accept, but getting a forward prospect with equal value to Mitchell would be optimal instead of a defenseman

I'm pretty sure that part of the new CBA says that picks cannot have a condition based on the player resigning with the team.

Hawks don't really have that forward prospect thats the problem. With how stacked this draft class is you can get one better than Mitchell at 9 OA

The picks cant upgrade... For example "you get a 3rd that upgrades to a 2nd if x player resigns." But you can do "you get a 2nd if player x resigns." At least thats what it seems to me.

Do you think the sharks would rather Saad instead of Mitchell? That is with the assumption he could be easily flipped at the deadline for a 1st or equivalent. I think that may help out the Hawks more also, keeping Mitchell and potentially De Haan or Maatta.

yes definitely that's why if we rebuild I still think we accept, but we're so stacked on the right side. Karlsson and Burns are signed for a lot longer and Merkley will be ready in a year or two. The only place where I see room for him is the bottom pair but I think he has a lot more potential than that.

Would you switch Mitchell to Barratt and a 2nd?

I would so that. I would also be willing to swap Mitchell for Beaudan who plays the left side if that helps

that would be better, but a forward is best. On the left side we have Vlasic long term and Simek for 4 more years. Ferraro's contract isn't that long, but he's young and hopefully is a productive 2nd pair defenseman for many years to come. Kniazev also is looking like he could be decent too.

Agreed we also have meloche and Roy and and pashniuck
We are stacked at D and empty at forward we need depth

Any chance on Kirby and the 1st for Hertl?

If we're being honest...Hertl and the Unprotected SJS 2021 1st isn't going to get you Dach.

IMO Strome is way more valuable that Brodin even with the extension. Brodin is a great option in your top 4, but I'd prefer a 23 year old C who's finally starting to live up to his 3rd overall status

... Confused It's only been one year, but there hasn't been a single player in that entire draft that had a better year than him. Not one. Not Zegras playing in the NCAA...Not Hughes or Kaapo getting most their success from being on their teams #1 PP units. No one.

Barett, 2020 1st, and 2021 2nd for Hertl and a 2023 2nd conditional on hertl resigning. We have a deal

Evan Barett, 2020 1st (9th overall), and a 2021 2nd for Hertl and a 2023 2nd conditional on Hertl resigning in Chicago (hawks only get pick if he does not resign). Dach is off the table

I dont see it happening because EB just signed with the Hawks and could have stayed at PSU, but I hear you.

That’s a really fair offer I would have incredibly hard time not agreeing to that.

Toews, Dach, Strome, Kurashev, Kampf are all guys I would have above Barrett as options at Center. Barett is expendable in my opinion but i get what you’re saying .
