Description
I've made previous moves for the teams that will miss this year tournament. Now I'm going to start with Anaheim.

First with the 6th overall pick I think they'll pick Raymond. He's not playing in Anaheim next season and it's better for him to play one more season in Europe before coming in North America.

From all the teams I've made so far Anaheim is the closest to being ready to compete. They got a excellent goaltender in Gibson. They got 3 defenseman who are top 4 (Fowler, Lindholm, Manson) and the top 6 is ok but I think it's enough to at least compete.

First I think the priority is to bring a rhd to complete the top 4. From the moment they trade him I think they made a mistake, so I think they should bring back Montour. Some might said for this type of defenseman I could sign Vatanen instead of making a trade, but I like Montour more because he's younger and better and because at LW Anaheim actually as Rakell, Jones, Comtois and Milano. The latter as actually enjoy a good time next to Getzlaf, but I think Comtois deserve to be a full time nhler and could replace him. But Montour for Milano is not enough so I add Larsson. He didn't have much chance to pass Lindholm or Fowler on the leftside so perhaps a change in Buffalo could help him as he prove he can at least play in the nhl as a top 6 defenseman, but perhaps with a bigger role he could be a top 4 in Buffalo and compete with McCabe. Djoos will replace him and in case of a injury Makura will be the first one to be called.

Now the big problem is the offense. They got players who are considered top 6 or have the potential to be, but they don't got any elite player. A game changer. Those players don't come cheap, but they could have one in Zegras. I think he needs one year with the Gulls so I wouldn't try to make a blockbuster move in order to bring that type of player as Anaheim is not ready to make those type of moves. Instead I think it will be a work by commitee.

I think next season they'll be better, but not good enough for the playoffs. Let's not forget their doing a rebuild on the fly as they still got a good mix of veteran and youngsters. Once Zegras and Raymond will come in the lineup this will be the Anaheim should spend more. Until they will rely heavily in Gibson and the top 4 in defense to win their games.

There's a reason why we traded Montour, GMBM hates him, plus he's just not a good top 4 guy, I'd much much much rather get a guy like Weegar

Zegras is ready, he won't be Elias Pettersson, but he'll be a solid 40-50 point guy next year in the middle 6 tbh (and if the season doesn't start till like Jan, Raymond is probably NHL ready)

Agreed on Montour. He was good for us, but mainly because he had a solid D-partner to make up for his questionable play. The holes in his game are made a lot more obvious in Buffalo, where they lack high end guys on the back end (Which is surprising, because they've got like 43 defencemen on the roster...). I like the idea of getting a guy like Weegar, and wouldn't even mind paying fair market value for someone like Cernak, but realize he'd be a tough get.

Yeah, Cernak would be another good one, assuming we want to keep Lindholm-Manson together, we should def target someone a bit more defensively minded than Montour to play with Fowler

I've said Montour because he had good numbers with Anaheim. Of course he played with Lindholm a more defensif player but I would add a more offensif player to round up Anaheim top 4. I like mixing a offensif with a defensif player on defense.

Agreed. I wonder what Mahura could fetch. I really like him, and would love to see him actually log some ice time, but out of Larsson/Mahura/Djoos, IMO he's the only one that fetches something decent.

Completely agree lol, love Mahura, would be sad to see him get traded, but he should get the biggest return if we were to trade any of the 500000 current bottom pair LHD we have

tears of joy That's why I was surprised when they traded for Djoos. I get that Spronger is a nutjob, and was unfortunately never going to be a fit in Anaheim, but it would have been nice if GMBM had at least picked up some bag of bones that could play the right side...

Supposedly Djoos can play the right side (per some caps fans who were trying to convince me how valuable he was before he got traded) but then again ever player can "play" RD according to fans of that team if he's rumored to be going to ANA (or TOR) lol

I can’t see Murray trading for Monty. He hates him... also Milano did great with us I can’t see him getting moved either

I've said it before, but the D-partner that Fowler really needs is an elite #1D. Someone like Pietrangelo would be perfect, but a prime Weber would have been best (more physical). Fowler is the epitome of a transition D-man and doesn't really excel on offence or defence. Therefore, to really shine, he needs someone who can make-up for those weaknesses in his game (which is why he's never been great with Lindholm because Lindholm is poor at generating offence too). Fowler can lead a 2nd pairing, but I believe his optimum role is as a complimentary partner to an elite talent on the top pairing. It won't happen, but:

Fowler - Pietrangelo
Lindholm - Manson
Djoos - Gudbranson

Would be a godly set of D pairings. Not to mention they'd have Gibson in net.
