Is This Crazy Enough

Created by: Terry_AkiSauce
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 7, 2020
Published: Jul. 7, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hypothetical: Edmonton loses in the play-in, receives the 10th overall pick. The loss was a clear defensive issue and Draisaitl has a bad series.

Buffalo fans, would you pay this price to acquire one of the leagues best offensive centres on a great contract and a defenseman who can play heavy minutes in your top 4?

Edmonton fans, would you give up Draisaitl to add one of the league's best young defenseman and a former 1st overall pick? You'll also be adding 8th overall in this years draft and McDavid's winger for many years to come.

Detroit declines and that Buffalo trade is interesting to say the least. Detroit can take Neal off your hands for futures.

I'd actually like to know why, as far as compensation, its probably in Edmontons favour. Drai is no doubt an unbelievable offensive centreman but his defense is lacking and you already have McDavid.

RNH is no doubt a 2nd line C who will be commanding too much money for Edmonton to afford and will either walk or be traded as soon as the Oilers can no longer afford that expensive of a 3C.

Dahlin is a first overall pick a has met expectations or even exceeded them so far and EDM is acquiring 8th OA pick and Reinhart in addition.

Value-wise or just where the franchise is currently?

Yeah, was looking for a winger on a bad team that could also potentially take Neal and thats where I landed. The post was definitely more about the Buff trade, didn't put too much effort into the DET trade tbh

Both IMO, Dahlin is untouchable both value wise and in terms of BUF's needs

Even if they're bringing in the probable (unfortunately) Hart winner? I think they at least consider this

Value wise.

Drai is great no doubt but not to take potentially the best dman in the league a top 10 pick and a top RW

I mean, Nurse, Joki, Montour, Miller, Risto and McCabe isnt the worst ever, bottom 10 in the league no question but the offense is terrible as well

Edmonton can't get the 10th pick. Once 8 teams are out they are put in order worst points percentage. So Edmonton would need 7 teams with a better points percentage to get knocked out in the play in round. Since there are only 3 teams in the play in round with a better points percentage it can't happen.

Buffalo passes.

This is too much price. We give our future #1D and our left side defense will simply be destroyed by this deal. We also give our best RW, who, although he is not an elite, stably produces his 55-60 points per season, the right side of attack is also destroyed by this deal, also #8 in this draft is quite valuable. Draisaitl is of course an elite and great player, but no thanks.

Leon just won art ross wasn’t even close.... Dahlin is great but not touching any needs by acquiring. LD is a position of strength for the team. Reinhart doesn’t tip any scales and again RW is another position not really a need even close to big enough to move Leon for. Makes no sense from Edmonton side.

I know I am a Sabre's fan, but Dahlin is nearly untouchable.
He is progressing very well and in a couple of years he will be the McDavid of defensemen.
Take out the first round picks.
It would be a huge trade which I think neither team would do.
