Dont think Hughes get that kind of return after the rookie season he just had.

Joe Thornton had 7 points in his rookie season. New Jersey definitely declines this

I think both teams decline. Hughes didnt show enough for Vancoiver to think it's worth it and NJ probably doesnt risk giving away Hughes early. But right now I dont think Hughes is worth Hoglander Podkolzin and multiple 1st, just a matter of timing

Think this is an overpay, but I think the bigger question is why the Canucks would want to add Jack Hughes (aside from reuniting the brothers)? He is skilled and a great offensive player, but Vancouver already has Pettersson and Boeser. Vancouver needs two-way players (particularly wingers) like Pod and Hoglander on ELC contracts and young dmen on ELC contracts.

I can respect that opinion, Hughes is 5'9 though it should be expected he takes at least a year to transition

Agreed. He was a kid that when I watched him his body just seemed a tear or two behind his mind. Be interesting to see when it catches up

yeah what a horrendous trade for New Jersey, they're not trading Hughes.

Yep. There's just no conceivable fit between these two teams that would make it worth either team to trade their Hughes.
