Pietrangelo is the only one worth entertaining. Everyone else would be an overpaid plug.

Drysdale is Fowler 2.0. IMO, he projects to become a complimentary top pairing D-man that brings elite skating and excels on the transition. He'll probably end up more of a #3 D-man though. Crazy to think we got Fowler at 12th OA and Drysdale likely goes 5th OA. Just shows how weak this year's draft is for D-men.

DeMelo 1, he's gonna get underpaid if WPG doesn't keep him, he's a stud
Pietro 2. Obv he's better, but he's gonna get a lot more
Hamonic and TvR are OK middle pair guys
Stay far far away from Ceci and Barrie, and Tanev, they're gonna get stupid overpaid
Schenn BoGo Ceci Welinski Hainsey Holzer and Petrovic are simply not NHL caliber d men (Hakanpaa>.)

Only problem with Pietro is he’s gonna ask for a FAT contract

Hakanpää or Pietrangelo. Or a trade for a young RFA a team can’t afford ie Cernak Sergachev etc.

Edit: you might have missed the one UFA RHD that makes the most sense, Vatanen even tho I’d pass.

De Melo is my number one choice in all my "Dream Summer" scenarios. I'd pay him $4 million for 5 years; Toronto authority @SammyT_51 would pay him that for 6 years.

I'd sign Pietrangelo for $9 million for 6 years if that was his price.

I wouldn't object to re-signing Korbinian for up to $1.25 million as a depth move if we can't keep Hakanpaa or the staff decide he can't do it.

I'd like to know what everyone thinks about how far on the shady side of the hill Travis Hamonic is, but I heard he's partial to western Canada.

What about Radko Gudas?

He'd be worth it. I think 9M for 7 years is a fair deal. His game isn't particular aggressive, so I have few concerns about a massive drop off in his game during the first 4-5 years of that deal. Having said that, I doubt he'd be willing to move out West.

The bold would probably be the most ideal.

I'm not that high on DeMelo. Seems like a guy that all the advanced stat lovers like, but I haven't been as impressed watching him play. Hamonic is too defensive for our needs. Honestly, for me, it is either Pietrangelo or look for a trade/draft.

But I think a primarily defensive guy is just what we need alongside Cam Fowler. I'm not saying that Cam is defensively deficient, I think he's fine there; it's just that Cam has enough offense for the two of them.

Maybe, but I've never been impressed with Cam's offence. His outlet pass is good, but that is on the transition which we all know he is excellent at. Once the team is setup in the O-zone, his lack of a threatening shot and average vision/creativity really shows. I don't think Fowler is bad offensively, but it's just not a strong part of his game. I think he's much better defensively, especially in this new-era of hockey which is faster and where more points are scored on the rush. Admittedly, if I had to choose, I think I would go with someone more defensive as a partner for Fowler, but that pairing is always just going to be lackluster IMO.

Fowler + Weber/Jones would be ideal. Someone who is a little slower in transition, but that brings a booming shot and can make up for Fowler's physical deficiencies. I think in future drafts, we should be going hard after a Weber/Jones-esq D-man, I'd be all over a D-prospect in this years draft if they had someone like a Provorov or Seider.

I disagree with your dismissal of Cam's offensive abilities. Over the years I've seen him produce some amazing performances and this past season he led all Ducks defensemen in goals and points by a significant margin. You may not like his offence on a theoretical basis but he's the best we've got.
