Really can't see NJ trading the 7th overall pick for two seasons of Nurse, makes zero sense for them.

Extensions are a thing teams do. Jersey can afford to extend him no problem.

Going to free agency is a thing players do, the Devils really need to draft a scoring winger with that 7th overall pick, trading it for Nurse just doesn't make sense for them imo.

It’s a unique trade, but the Devils aren’t in a competing window, and will not be in the next two years so it’s not happening. The 7th overall is much more valuable to us right now. The Oilers will have cap issues in two years - NJ can offer Nurse 7x8-9M then (hopefully we’re a more competitive team to lure him) and keep the 7OA

Trying to use nurse to get in a position to draft the goalie.

Why would you draft a goalie when they clearly need wingers

Confident in what we got coming also wingers can be found many ways. I don’t feel confident in goalies coming up. After kosk it’s a massive gap if can address that now perfect.

The oilers contedning time is now, they shopuld rather take a winger that can be helpful in 2 years rather than a goalie who will take at least four to five years to develop

Not sure I agree that the time is now, maybe in a year or two. That being stated, I think it's a season too early to consider moving Nurse, or Larsson for that matter. The expansion draft will have an impact on any decision regarding the top-4, as will the development of Bouchard and the performance of the team over the next 12 months. They looked good in the standings this past season, but they don't yet have the look of a real contender.

The Oilers window is NOW. It's counterproductive to their goals to be trading a 1st pairing defenseman who is just entering his prime for a goalie who won't be in the NHL for probably 4-5 years.

In my point I'm saying that a winger takes less time to develp and will be ready by the time the oilers start contending while a goalie will take a way longer time to develop.

They had a really good 2nd half. I think their window is open now, especially if the deadline additions can contribute.

Ergo: from January 1st through to the end of the season, Oilers had the 6th best win record in the league. McDavid and Klefbom both missed time during this period.

Their deadline additions didn't help much:
- Green played just 2 games
- Athanasiou played 9 but was injured in the 1st or 2nd game and rendered ineffective in the rest
- Ennis was as advertised
