u may be able to get a 7th for Bracco but I see Dubas letting him walk as a free agent.
As for kerfoot would rather keep him as he will bounce back to 40 points next season and be the 3c Dubas knows he can be.

i agree. kerfoot bounced around quite a bit playing wing with tavares. i think if kerfoot has a stable spot at 3c he will breakout as leaf next year.

I'm not convinced Dubas gets rid of Malgin after only acquiring him a few months ago. I'm guessing he'll at least get looks at pre-season next season and opportunities as injuries may happen.

Doesnt fix the or help the backend at all. Kerfoot Johnsson Kapenen.. if any one them is dealt itll be to upgrade the defence.. not bring in a downgrade at 3C

Why do the jets do this? They trade their most versatile F for Kerfoot, just to lose him in expansion?

Actually the 5th is for Bracco.
I feel similar to Timashov and Marchment, Bracco will get moved to a team willing to give him a shot.

Kerfoot, I feel he will have a bounce back year however this move is done for 2 reasons.

Reason 1
Johnsson > Kerfoot

Johnsson is the better player overall IMO and I'd rather keep him.

Reason 2
Cap, we need to shed cap to retain our RFAs and this works I think.

The reality for Malgin is, he was only acquired to give Marchment a shot on another team. Didnt want him to be traded honestly.

If we had cap space I would have kept him and dont see him accepting a 2 way deal.

I totally have the confidence in Keefe to showcase that our D is not nearly as bad as everyone thinks.

Just look at the metrics of the D while they played under Babcock and Keefe separately.

There is big difference.

Lehtonen did not sign with Leafs to play on the Marlies.
Dermott is way better then he has shown, mark my words he and Sandin will be the reason why Rielly will likely end up walking as a UFA.

Malgin is actually very underrated. He can pk and play well on ppunit 2. I see him coming back and since he can play a depth role probs see him 4th line

4th line and if someone gets injured he fills in. Cause he can play center and wing pretty well

Okay but without question

Speeza > Malgin
Gauthier > Malgin

And Barabanov didnt sign here to play on Marlies.

I see the 4th line being

Clifford-Spezza-Malgin. Gauthier really isnt better than Malgin, Malgin actually is better at both ends and is more useful on the pp and pk. Gauthier just has the advantage when it comes to face off wins.

You forgot size.
I was really impressed by Gauthier this season.

Was different player VS previous seasons.

That statement is absolutely ridiculous! Leafs are not going to let an elite offensive Dman walk because the 'dime a dozen' 3rd pairing guy like Dermott has marginally improved from being a garbage turnover liability into an acceptable 6-7 guy.

With the tight budget I can actually see them using Spezza as a 3C and Brooks as the 4C. Spezza has proven quite adequately capable of still being an acceptable 3rd line guy... especially if the the top 2 lines are getting 20-22 minutes per. ( Kerfoot will be gone to upgrade the backend)
