CHI trade's interesting but I don't know whether they'd give up such a bargain for a division rival.

That Pietrangelo contract is bad. He wants at least $9,5M x 8.

I don't think MIN needs Allen. With Dubnyk, Stalock and Kähkönen in there Allen is just unnecessary.

Bozak to FLA won't work as FLA has reportedly stated they're trying to shed cap, not take it in.

Florida also has like 0 center depth after Barkov. They will not resigning Hoffman and Dadonov...

There are rumors Petro might be willing to take a one year deal to stay in St Louis because they can't resign him otherwise.

Dubnyk and Stalock were horrible last season. After the season Allen had it might make sense for the Wild considering they still want to be a playoff team.

CHI won't likely get a better package for Saad so I'm willing to be they strongly consider it

This 9.5 million stuff that Pietrangelo is supposedly going to get from the Blues is crazy talk. You're not the first one to have said this in the last few days.

9.5 x 8 is 76 million dollars. For someone to match that on the open market they'd have to give him a smidge under 11 x 7. No way is anyone doing that, especially now. So there's no reason for the Blues to offer that much money over an eight year term either.

Much more likely he'll get 8.5 x 8, or there abouts. Maybe someone will offer him 10 x 7 on the open market, so that makes sense to be the range to aim towards for eight years.

I mean, the latest of late firsts, the latest of late 3rds, and an AHL guy who likely wont crack the Hawks isnt a great package, especially if we are retaining AND for inside the division.

For a TOP5 D in the league $9,5M is to be expected. I do think some teams might pull a $10,5 x 7 if he hits free agency, but it's a bit touch and go I admit. The reason for spending that much is simple - to keep Petro. He's that good.

Dubnyk was terrible, but Stalock wasn't bad. And like I said, they've Kähkönen as an option. He was voted the best G in AHL so there's potential in the guy.

Also once again it's a division rival trade and I can't see Wild spending assets for Allen. No point helping a division rival. If they get him virtually for free, then yes, but 2nd rounder is too much as there's options in FA as well.

FLA center depth is bad, but I don't see Bozak being any solution to that.

And you think Saad(rental) will fetch a much greater package?

I maintain that based off of what the Wild got for Zucker, the Hawks can get more than a late first and a nobody prospect, even if he is a rental. a 3m 20 goal scoring defensive forward rental mind you

You mean 30 goal scorer as that was what he was on pace for this season. I agree, the Hawks can get what Zucker did as Saad is a better player with a way more consistant resume but without the extra year. However, if Hawks are retaining 1/2 they definitely can get what Zucker did.

In our situation, we're not paying that for one year of Saad.
