I agree that TOR adds but Montour's not a top pairing D in virtually any team in the league,

I was just referring to the fact he has Montour on the top pair on this team

Yeah that's true. Leafs RHDs are that weak.

not really, Dermott was a Solid RHD and rn his defensive numbers are solid. Many top 4 defenseman had similar numbers when they were his age. Holl surprised the league with how well he did. He was supposed to be a cheap filler, but he showed its never to late and had a solid season. Liligren is on the verge of being ready, from what I saw he needs to work on his confidence, other than that he is ready.

In general the Leafs dcore is not as bad as many people make it seem and with a few adjustments it could be comparable to many top defensive teams.

If the leafs ran

Rielly-Dermott
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Lehtonen

that would be fine.

Dermott is not a RHD. He's a LHD that played RD for a while.

He played 64 games last season (2018-2019) on the right side and did fine at it. No reason why he cant do it again. In general Dermott is a Dman who can play both sides effectively.

Main issues with the trades

1. Leafs have no interest in the Edmonton one pass. Gauthier despite being a 1st round dissapointment is okay in his current role.

2. The NJ one has potential but man i dont know if Dubas would risk losing 2 future top 4 dman and rocket boy Kapenan. Sure the 1st and Zacha are nice but this one is gonna be a debate.

3. As for the Buffalo one, Montour has potential, but no body can agree what he is, some say top 2, other say bottom pairing, overall I just dont see it working out. Now Miller could be an idea.

Why do you think Ken Holland would retain 50% of Khaira's salary, especially when acquiring a more expensive player who really won't provide an upgrade? He'd be much better off trying to unload Khaira for a draft pick and resigning Sheahan.

Goat is not more expensive, he'll get a league minimum deal and I paid for the retention by adding the 5th, the only reason I have any interest in Kharia is to add a bit depth on the PK ( it'd be nice to have a couple Face-off options on the PK) I'd be surprised if Kharia managed to make the Leafs squad beyond 4th line and PK depth

If it makes you feel better I'll put Lehtonen with Rielly and Montour with Sandin, also not opposed to nixing the Buffalo trade, keeping Kerfoot and add Johnsson to the NJ trade and swap the 1st for Severson

Kerfoot is also an option for a 2nd line LW , probably not a bad idea for Buffalo to have a more experienced and versatile player in their top 9 if they are serious about having Cozens play a full season
