That's essentially just a 2nd rounder for Domi. Will need to add value.

In terms of value. you should probably look at a Zucker like deal.

Look at what would you ask for Guentzel... and offer the same for Domi

Not really, guentzel is a very good player who gets to play with generational talent. Domi has never played with even close to the talent guentzel has enjoyed. Guentzel is not a 40 goal scorer on any other team, and I'm not trying to knock him cause I think guentzel is a very good player but the crosby factor is a real thing.

I am not suggesting one on one... but to look at what would be your request for Guntz and offer +/- the same for Domi

Not a chance. If we trade Domi, we’ll want what we need in return, not random crap you can spare off your team.

If this was the best offer for Domi, I would pray that the Habs resign him to a long term deal instead.

Legare is debatably our best forward spec (yes Poulin is probably better, but Legare is not far behind)

But yes that is not a good offer

Doesn’t matter about the linemates factor. As of right now, Guentzel is by far the better player.

Ottawa declines. Even if Björkqvist makes it out of the NHL he'd be a 4th liner, so he's nothing, and a late 2nd round pick in 2021 is not worth Ottawa taking on Johnson's contract. HARD NO.

Most Domi trades on this site are for a LHD like Lindell (Dallas adds) or Brodin (MTL adds)

Jake is bringing in a much bigger return than both of them. Using Jake as a Domi trade comparison is off. As someone mentioned in the comments, the Zucker trade is a much better comparison

The Zucker trade was labeled "a grand slam" by the NHL broadcast team the evening that it happened. A "grand slam" deal shouldn't be what you consider the benchmark.

Poulin is definitly better than Legare. with the switch I would accept the deal.

Poulin as a big top 6 foward. (Montreal has none)
Desmith would solve the never ending backup problem with a low caphit.
Bjugstad would bring some size in the bottom 6 short term. (need those for playoffs).
That 2nd could be close to a 3rd, but maybe 2022 is far enough to be a bad year for pens.

This is a horrible idea for the penguins in so many ways,
What do they do the year after.
Domi wants a raise, Marino gets a raise. They will most likely resign ZAR and Blueger at small raises. There is only so much cap to go around and it's flat.
Even moving Hörnqvist out wouldn't be enough to cover the cap space.

Wait what. Someone would pay more than Esa Lindell for Domi?
