Except Coyle isn't a 2C.

I don't see why either team does this. Boston just signed Coyle to a long term deal and it would look bad if they traded him. For Buffalo, Coyle is not a #2C....at least not for a contending team. He'd be a serviceable #2C in a pinch, but not a guy you want to rely on as a #2C.

Buffalo just keep their 8th overall and draft a center, like Perfetti. Then trade Montour for another player or just VS Coyle 1 for 1.

Bruins need all the centers with Bergeron and Krejci getting older. Boston’s trade strength is through the defense depth. But Lauzon and his toughness are needed in Boston.

Oh boy. To put it lightly, this is bad. Let’s start with what you did right.

Brendan Gaunce....kinda forgot he existed, so i think 800K for the one year deal feels right.

Well we got through that, now the bad.

A blanket statement for most of the RFA contracts. Get rid of this concept that you can just sign prospects for 3 years at about what their qualifying offer is. They’re not accepting that. You might be able to get away with two years, but not three. That’s the issue with most of them.

I think that’s a bit much for Debrusk on a bridge. He’s been inconsistent, and there’s this whole pandemic thing.
The Grzelcyk offer would ruin the relationship between the player and the team instantly. It’s awful. Insulting. I’m pretty sure the Grzelcyk camp wouldn’t counter and would just ask for a trade. If Grzelcyk is feeling generous, maybe he signs for 3.8 at that term. I still think that’s light.

Dillon? Are you serious? Why?
Krug at that contract? I wish.
Chara, whatever. He’ll probably get more than that, but I guess it isn’t insane.

I’m not even going to address the buffalo deal. Others will. It’s wrong from every angle.

Why does Chicago want Moore? I would pick a different team.

nevermind the fact that montour would literally be our 3rd pairing right dman... doesnt really make sense to trade a position of weakness for a position of strength...

the idea that boston wouldnt make this trade is laughable. you are turning depth pieces into the 8th overall pick in the draft and getting out of a huge salary.

i mean maybe they do it to flip Montour and the pick but it doesnt make sense. The Bruins are in a win now mode and trading their 3C (that theyve been searching for years for) would make 0 sense.
Coyle would be a nice stop gap before Cozens or Mitts but also makes no sense to give up an 8th overall pick for a borderline 2C.
Just a dumb idea for both sides

i would humbly suggest boston could find a center in free agency to replace coyle at a lower cost and less term, like a Haula. and have a prized asset in the #8 overall pick.

obviously buffalo doesn't do it.

You would be humbly incorrect.

You’ve gotta understand, it’s not just about value. It’s not like teams just say, “heyyyy, the values there, let’s make the trade.” It has to make sense for their organization. Now, here, I would argue that the value is so lopsided that the bruins would have to accept the deal and figure it out from there, but there’s certainly times where declining a trade that favors you makes sense.

That's my point, the value is so lopsided

The point i think you’re wrong about is coyle. He really fits their system.

The Bruins just signed Coyle. They negotiated the salary. Coyle is a huge need foe the Bruins right now.

Boston addressed a free agent center by signing Coyle.

Just heard that DeBrusk is going for 6 million AAV.
Using Konecny as comparison.

That pick is 8th overall so I can’t see BUF wanting to give that up for a 2/3 center like Coyle. Montour seems like the odd man out, so I can see them trying to flip him for a single pick or a 1 for 1 swap. And for the B’s, I like Montour, but Coyle is a more important cog in the lineup than Montour would be, it’s also a little heavy of a contract for a 3rd pairing D-man.
