My guess is that Nill would seriously consider that.

I would do it.

I think the value is OK and slightly in favor of Dallas.

I don’t hate it either. Maybe change Erickson to a 2nd.

Steep price but the value is close IMO.

If the Stars included Thomas Harley instead of Eriksson I'd be very tempted.

Dallas would stop talking with Harley included in that scenario. He is our #1 prospect and has good chance to make the team next season.

Honestly don’t know whether I’d do it or not, but the value is about the closest thing I’ve seen in a Klingberg/Nylander trade ACGM on this site.

I’d probably lean towards taking the trade. Nylander would fix a MASSIVE need for Dallas, Heiskanen can play RD with Lindell, and Liljegren can start as our 3RD working his way into a top-4 role. This would leave Dallas with a future top-4 of:

Lindell-Heiskanen
Harley-Liljegren

My biggest hesitation is that elite right shot defenseman are pretty difficult to find and trading one away is hard to stomach, but it would be difficult to turn down this deal

Agreed. Tho Albin has some potential. Depends on if the Leafs think they can do better with a 2021 second rounder

This trade is really good for both teams. I don’t think I’d hesitate at all if I’m Nill. Klinger is an amazing player and person but this just does too much to make the team better

I looked into Eriksson a bit before including him and he seems like the type of project prospect Dubas likes. The Leafs development system is one of the best in the league so you'd be looking at 2-3 years before he's ready to possibly make a run for a roster spot. I thought about adding Harley, but his potential is way too high to justify including him without giving up a Robertson type prospect as well. And I don't believe either team is interested in moving that caliber of prospect.

The only thing I think Dallas might have issue with is that it may hamstring them next off season when they have to resign a couple of key players. This trade does not help their cap situation, it's more of a lateral move from that aspect. However, I'm sure they can entice Seattle to take on a guy like Cogs or Comeau for a small sweetener.

What about Johns? He's not elite and has some health concerns, but he is a serviceable bottom pairing RHD no?

Correct. He’s a fine 3RD and can play 2RD when needed, but in a perfect world he’s your 3rd pair defenseman and he’s playing next to a guy like Oleksiak or Dillon Heatherington, someone who is going to combine with him to form a large shutdown pair.

Albin is one of the few players in our system with the toolbox to become an impact player. I don’t know if he’ll ever put it all together, but I really liked that pick. Would be a good guy to gamble on in a trade like this. Nice choice
