Simple fix UFA under the cap

Created by: TheDuminator
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2020
Published: Jul. 8, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Alot of available Good-Defense this summer would slowdown the crazienest salary raise as the salary cap would be fixed for many years
Granlund can play C if needed as well than Suzuki if KK or Domi struggle... 60pts guy similar than Tatar
Getting a Better-Solid TOP9

Aquiring a better 2G in DeSmith is a Must... if you don't like the return for the 3rd G in Pittsburgh, we can change the pick for a 3rd
Trading Armia for a Good NHL RHD Honka who want to be out of Dallas (Mtl saves money)
Ti-Paul would joined back is coach favorite Therrien (Mtl saves money) Phily loose only 20 spot on the draft + betting Byron
Leaving Petry, Tatar, Mete as a trade bate for next year signing of Gally, Danault, KK, Lehko, Poehling as we will need 7-9M more$$$

I think you could get Honka for a 3rd round pick. No need to waste Armia for him.

Then make another trade for Armia or ask Nill for a pick. Value of Armia is much higher than Honka right now.

That being said, Dallas have no need for yet another bottom six player. We have plenty of that on the roster right now and also coming up from the AHL.

How about Lindell for either Domi or Drouin one on one? Lindell is not an offensive power house and not an elite puck mover but he has great value if you appreciate the defensive side in hockey as well as elite play on the PK. Things that Bergevin would seriously consider.

I think 6yr x $6.5M for Domi is a huge risk for the Habs. Huge risk for a player who has yet to show consistency.

The price is nice for Byron, but the Flyers have their own cap issues. I don't see a fit there for what would be a 3rd line forward at 3.4 million a year for three additional seasons.

How about DeSmith for Juulsen ?? Would give him a fresh start from the injuries?

Flyers are too tight to take on that contract without something going the other way.

I really like Lindell... not long ago I did some AGM going after Lindell and Stars fan always told me he is untouchable.... so I lost look in his direction.
This year with many great UFA available... I wouldn't trade a top6 player for a top pairing D... too many available: Pietro, Krug, Barrie, Brodie, Gustafson, Vatanen, Tanev, Edmunston, Braun, Pysyk, Hutton, Soucy to name a few...loll

Keeping JVR on LITR would leave enough room... but yes I agree

seriously... 25yo showing 52, 38 (he has 21yo), 45, 72, and 44 (on a 55pts trend).. we can easily say that he is a 50+ NHL pts guy... if playing with good player we could easily see 60+ season after season

DeSmith for Kulak, Lindgren, 4th

Pittsburgh passes.

DeSmith is penciled in as the 2G for Pittsburgh next year after Murray leaves. Pittsburgh also has ZERO interest in your $750,000 ECHL level goalie Lindgren.

Would love Armia. I def think we add a pick. Make it a conditional one on him signing an extension. I’d give Honka and a second rounder for an extended Armia. I think he’d be a great fit in Dallas

I'm not even gonna comment on the players in the penguins trade.
There is no reason too. They aren't taking cap back in any trade like this.
DeSmith costs them almost nothing against the cap. This costs them more for much of nothing.
That's a straight no.

DeSmith would need to clear the waivers if they keep him 3rd G... and then MTL would get him for free

Can you at least comment on the real stuff... like a great Top9 to get into the playoff run?

Granlund and Brodie will not make the Habs Cup contenders, so pass on those deals.

Habs better off keeping Juulsen (still has top 6 NHL potential) than giving him away for some aging AHL goalie. Habs have Primeau and even that Russian guy they just signed to be backups.

Actually, Lindgren played in the NHL this season, while Desmith, who turns 29 next month, only played in the AHL this past season. Desmith is a fringe AHLer. Not worth a NHL dman (Kulak), let alone a draft pick.

I didn't say DeSmith was a star, i said that he was penciled in as the 2G in Pittsburgh next year after Murray leaves.
Just because Lindgren played in the NHL doesn't mean that he isn't an ECHL level goalie. All that you have to do is watch him to see that.
