In this scenario, we get Bracco and a 2nd for Kerfoot's cap hit while Kerfoot can functionally play on our roster. You still don't like it?

You are absolutely fleecing toronto here. You should take this and run without batting an eye. Bracco might be useless, but the remainder of this package is a steal.

Theres a lot of what ifs with this happening. first when does the trade happen? second when do you sign joe thornton? third does dermott really take that little on a prove it deal? lastly, idk if its just me but i dont see soupman wanting a prove it deal. toronto might, but he has some leverage to go back to the khl... I almost think even with injury you have to make it worth his while to stay here?

But it's never going to happen and I'm not going pass up a chance to express my opinion on Bracco.

That's an odd takeaway from this.

It just goes to show that TOR is in big trouble without the cap rise if it wants to keep their top 5 together that a $6mm+ credit on the cap doesn't help them that much.

It's really a Bowey for Kerfoot and a second. Leafs aren't making the trade. What's this fascination you have trading Zetternberg? If he's on LTIR all season, he doesn't help or hurt any teams cap. Leafs certainly don't need him for any reason.

Teams don't get "credit" for an LTIR player. It's added on then taken off....all even

He does actually. He's in the same boat as Clarkson and Horton. Ask TOR how they were able to take on $88 million in cap (without Horton and Clarkson's salary on it, which would have made it $98mm in cap space) and still play in the league. The LTIR credit is how. VAN had to do it too (though, they were only at ~$84mm, so only a $2mm credit was needed). You can run your own ACGM and it shows you exactly how it works.

LOL. Take out Kerfoot and replace the second with a 4th before you get Dubas’ attention.

Yes, Ltir helps. But the value of an Ltir contract is none. Sparks is worth less than a 4th, but that what Toronto got along with Clarkson.

No. Have Clarkson and Horton didn't help the Leafs at all. Now there was a quirk in the CBA/cap and if Marner had not signed by opening day the Leaf would have got a bit of additional cap. But since ,Marner signed in Septemberi, absolutely no benefit didn't happen. The Leafs had Tavares, Marner, Reilly and Muzzin all on LTIR hence the Leafs high cap. But teams don't their stars on LTIR so they can be replaced by Brooks, Marincin and Liljegren.
There seems to be belief that the Leafs at only the Leafs want LTIR players so they can increase their cap. It's real nonsense.

1. It's already been worth it for Mikheyev, he only has 39 games under his belt 1,750,00 is a fine offer on a single year that turns him into a UFA after playing top 6 minutes With Matthews or Tavares.

2. For Dermott anything more than that and it's not a "show me" contract

I wouldn't either if I was Leafs fan. So is there anything to take away from this? Besides that A@#hole from Detroit doesn't like Bracco.

1.) he would still be an rfa on a 1 year deal. hes 25 and turns 26 in october. could make more in KHL for next year especially after the way he was playing for 39 games here before injury.

2.) i think anything under 2m would be considered a "show me" contract lol 1.1 isnt much higher what he was making this past year. i think they at least go to 1.5 if not closer to 2 for dermott.
