Buffalo can have a 2021 2nd and a conditional pick on Risto resigning in 2022

Dislike all those trades

Doubt Dadonov would even consider signing here for that. A better team would probably offer him that much, if not more

They are getting rid of conditional picks based on players re-signing or not in the new CBA

Is this confirmed? I haven't looked into the new CBA yet

Potential CBA modifications emerging as NHL/NHLPA continue negotiations

Quote:
*There are no more conditional picks in trades based on a player re-signing with the acquiring team. For example, the New Jersey Devils’ current third-rounder from Arizona in the Taylor Hall deal upgrades if he re-signs with the Coyotes. Agents and NHLPA staff felt it hurt players’ value.

Allen is a great 1b goalie. I see it more as paying the 2nd to get rid of Hutton. And Allen is >>> than Hutton. Plus the contract is only for a year and the other deals recoup a 2nd round pick to replace the one traded.

This is all assuming BUF wants to trade Hutton (most likely, but still an assumption). I think STL makes sense because they have familiarity with Hutton and need to shed cap space. This may not be the exact deal, but I think a deal around Hutton for Allen makes sense for both teams.
