I’d LOVE it... but why would the Caps make that trade?
Don’t see any chance of that happening

Don’t like the rest of the trades

WSH has Ovi, Vrana, and Samsonov to resign after the next season, so it could be seen as a cap move while still getting a really good prospect with BUF's 1st rounder.

Kuzetsov isn’t waiving to play in Buffalo.

Not a chance imo
IF they had to make a move for Cap room,
it would MUCH more likely be something like Backstrom (he’s 5yrs older) to get back a prospect who’s ready to play like Cozens
And they wouldn’t be making a move like that now,
they’d wait till they need to make the moves

Also no way Kuznetsov waives to come here

Nice thought, but not realistic at all

Yeah Kuzy would easily cost Jokiharju or Cozen plus a 1st not a 22 year old with 29 total NHL games played...… Kuzy is a top 20 center who averages a ppg.

Kuzy contract is amazing for a1-2c under 8million

Probably not. But If he did, I think a deal centered around BUF's 1st and Kuzy makes sense for both teams. Caps get major cap relief + a high-end prospect while BUF gets their 2C. I do think that he will be traded in order to resign Ovi, Vrana, and Samsonov though. I don't see how they do it otherwise.

Talking about the 1st round pick selection here, not Asplund -- and it can be edited, but I don't see Cozens going back in any trade.

So does Kuznetsov!
And I’m not saying that would happen with us either
Was just saying they’d try to move Backstrom before they’d move Kuznetsov
And i used Cozens as an EXAMPLE of the type of player they’d want back, someone ready to step in and play right away

I don’t think that trade would happen with us either
No one is waiving to come here that’s on that level
And there’s no way the Caps are looking to trade Kuznetsov

backstrom just signed a contract and it hasnt even started yet. they arent going to trade him.

i wouldn't do #8 plus cozens, but i could do #8 plus mittelstadt plus johansson as a stop gap

You dont trade your 1C who is on a good contract for cap space. Especially not for a probably never will be (ie: not "a really good prospect') and a 1st.

This trade isnt a swing and a miss... this trade is a you got into an accident on the way to the field.

this doesn't address any of the capitals needs though... Jokiharju and a 2021 1st would fill the needs more than a 8oa that needs time develop...

And the Sabres would 100% be on his 15 team no trade list

Just said what was more likely based on Backstrom being 5yrs older than Kuznetsov

1- Kuznetsov isn’t getting traded
2- there’s ZERO chance it would be here if he was
