Orlov is solid but I honestly believe Jokiharju would be your number 2... might need another year before he overtakes Orlov but there's way more 5-on-5 upside to Jokiharju... Orlov is a beast though

No. ORLOV is the capitals best all around defenseman. Not a chance Joki even touches him right now talent wise. Joki is good but people are going crazy about him right now.

That unprotected pick could be #1 overall. I don't think Buffalo makes the playoffs even with Kuznetsov.

Doubtful. Buffalo fans feel that they are a strong 2c away from contending if that turns into a lotto pick they are rebuilding. Eichel is out

I agree #8 will not be moved for Domi, he's more in the #15 range. As for my trade, San Jose is in a tough spot where they have a lot of expensive aging players locked up and not a lot of room to move them. Meier has a Qualifying Offer of 10M in 3 years. Sharks already lost their 1st this year which would have been #3oa, getting #8, moving out an 8M player signed until he is 38 taking on a short term dump helps them retool around their younger players.

See I think it would cost a 1st alone to dump him. Plus cout value would be a mid 1st and a great project orthe 8oa and something small

They might feel that they are close to contending but they aren't even close. Not only will they have to trade out players to make cap space for Kuznetsov but their wings are weak. Who do they have on the right wing after Reinhart? Okposo?

I think the Sabres should and would seriously consider this if there was some form of protection on the pick. It's so obvious that they need change, yet the fanbase seems so reluctant to trade away anything of value. Tbh, I think Jokiharju is overrated in terms of the what he brings right now. I think he'll be a good Dman for a long time, but his current impact isn't nearly at the level of a Kuznetsov. If there is serious concern in the organization, about Eichel's willingness to hang around if they don't start winning soon, they should be looking into some seismic moves.

Do you honestly think it’s Okposo or are you being dramatic?

Also, I'd take that Leafs deal. I'd look for another team that would be willing to retain a bit of Jensen's deal and send a pick their way as well, but he's a guy that I'd be willing to take a chance on and if it doesn't work out the ED is just around the corner.

What is wrong with Kuznetsov and why are you trading him?

Nothing he’s fine. Just bored no hockey and he seems to be the most available with mcmichael and Protas coming up

Why isn’t anyone commenting on the fact that we already have the Washington 21 2nd as a cup win clause in Dillion’s trade deal!
That being said remove it and I think we still make that trade

Ive proposed #8 + Okposo + a B prospect for Couture + Sorensen in the past and both sides seemed to think it was fine. Buffalo gets a 2C that's a playoff beast without taking on to much cap (since Dahlin and Joker need raises next year). San Jose moves a long term contract for a top 10 pick and a cap dump that ends the year the need to pay Meier.

Sharks might accept depending on if the value of that prospect outweighs Okposo's negative value.

Okposo is 4 years at 6million I’d assume it would need to be more, right? I mean he’s good for 30 points now days but that cap hit is pretty large and the term is decently long?

Yeah especially for a team already deeply entrenched in cap troubles! At the end of the day we do get a great draft pick and get rid of a big contract, but we basically end up with the same salary total while downgrading from our 70 pt captain to an overpaid, aging 3rd liner. Couture for 8OA on its own isn't even as bad, it's just that adding Okposo makes things very complicated.

That's why I said it would depend on the prospect. You didn't specify on this post. In hindsight, I'd rather have Mittelstadt than Samuelsson because we don't need defensmen but the value is more or less there.

Yeah. Considering there was a thread were they traded 8oa for max domi. I think couture could easily get you some great assets without having to take on bad cap

Hey back to your original point. Kuzy is younger, better and cheaper than LC. His contract actually might end up being terrible in a few years. He’s signed till he’s 39 years old..... I honestly thought he had a better contract than he does. Yeah you should avoid this at all cost

I say my deal is still way better .... assuming it doesn’t cost more to dump Okposo

Don't all those things make him cost more? IMO he is not better though.

I’d say Joki and a mid 1st (I assume adding an elite 2c easily helps them become a playoff hunt team) is more fair. No I’d say Kuzy is the better player. That’s my opinion but either way he’s on a much better contract that won’t kill you guys in the long run.

I just dont see Buffalo moving Joker for anything but a sever over payment tbh. Him still being on an ELC has massive value. (Also im not a Sabres fan)
