You're the first Buffalo fan I've seen come to the realization that drafting 8 OA probably won't work out for Buffalo lol

The guy had 2-3 serious knee injuries, and after two years he is UFA, he is a great player, but it's too risky.

They'd be incredibly stupid not to entertain a trade like this.
Gets them into the Top 10 picks in 2020, gets them what should be a future 2 C in Mittalestadt and Montour can easily be flipped for even more futures or youngish NHL player

I wasn't even familiar with his injury history, good point.

Buffalo wont make the playoffs in a stacked Atlantic. I don't see them being better than Boston, Tampa, Toronto, and Florida next season even with these trades. I think Ottawa will also be a dark horse next year. The wildcard spots will most likely go to the Metro teams too

Toronto and Florida are never good, we need to realize they aren’t that good. Every year we said Florida are going to be good, every year they disappoint. Toronto have a strong line up but never plays like a top team

I hear you but Florida always seems to fail even when they improve on paper. As far as toronto goes, the sabres would get a lot closer with this trade and all it would take is an injury to a key player to give buffalo the edge.

No, generally seen alot of Buffalo fans value 8th OA like it helps them next year - it won't , probably 2/3 years out before that pick helps the team - how many more failure seasons and draft picks would Buffalo or Eichel find acceptable?

2018-2019 7th in the league and MTL were two ( 2 ) Points behind and missed the playoffs ? Really ?

The buffalo Hertl trades have gotten worse and worse this one is borderline comical. Sharks decline.

3 out of 5 top teams all in one Division - that seems a little unrealistic - I'm sure it's happened before but certainly not regularly

But still, Toronto shouldn’t be at 2 points out of the playoffs.

Sabres fans are happy to trade 8oa for an established player who will help them next year, but they aren't giving that away for someone average. People posts trades for guys like Domi, the Strome brothers, etc...... not happening. 8oa will yield a really great prospect which the Sabres will not lose out on for an average player. I'd be happy trading 8oa for a good, established player with term.

Sharks will never be a Buffalo! Our team owner is very competitive and is willing to lose money to win! And we arnt rebuilding so Hertl is not leaving San Jose unless ridiculous come nocking, this is a desperation trade offer not ridiculous,
Remove Labanc and it’s a maybe, remove Labanc and the 2nd and the sharks entertain the offer seriously.

Dude it's quite common to see a good to great team 2-4 pts away from missing the playoffs - I'm still struggling to see how a team putting up back to back 100pt seasons wouldn't be considered a top team?

If a Domi or Dylan Strome had term around 6x6 for Domi or 5x5 for Strome it wouldn't be a bad trade for 8 OA - if of course the idea is to better and really much better the next season

I agree and they will be better - but to have 110 - 120 pt seasons as an expectation 4 years removed from last place is a little ridiculous - Lookup the Penguins seasons after they drafted Malkin and Crosby it's like 104, 105, 99, 101, 102
