Created by: Leafs05
Team: 2020-21 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2020

Description
Bad rules but the Coyotes have a 12.5% chance of winning Lafreniere assuming they lose. But with Taylor Hall, this will double their odds and make it Hall's 7th draft lottery win. This could be his future replacement

Not a chance. Ullmark is a backup goalie whereas Raanta is a consistent .920 SV% the last couple of years.

Ullmark had a.915 save percentage this year.
Higher than Andersen, Price, Bobrovsky, Hart,Varlamov, Georgiev etc, he has injury concerns that’s why Buffalo didn’t make the playoffs, he got hurt in January and ironically played the last game of g he season.
Raanta may be a slight upgrade, but I don’t think it’s worth a 2nd round pick considering Botterill traded a lot of picks away.

Ullmark isn’t better, yet. Raanta isn’t a potential 1st round pick better, or even a non condition 2nd along with a prospect

Raanta put up a .930 SV% for a team that finished 26th in the league. Ullmark is a solid goalie but Raanta is still better. He had a .921 SV% even though the Coyotes were not very good defensively. Coyotes were only 3rd in goals against because of Raanta and Kuemper.

Raanta is the definition of a backup goalie. Only once in his career did he start more than 35 games and the year after he was beaten out by another career backup who had never started 30 games in his nhl career in a season prior. Raanta and Ulmark are likely very similar players although the Sabres can get Ulmark at a lower cap # for more term as he is RFA. It makes zero sense for the Sabres to trade for Raanta if the deal were offered 1 for 1 let alone to add anything to it

Even if Raanta is better then Ullmark this is so not worth it for the Sabres, trading the 4 year younger RFA goalie for the UFA goalie who's gonna want a decent raise to stay in Buffalo is not worth the slight upgrade that Raanta may be over Ullmark and it's debatable if he even is an upgrade, also not worth adding a 2nd and B-prospect, basically the Sabres should want no part of this trade.

Ullmark was the starter for Buffalo this year and played against the toughest competition up until he got hurt, statistically they also arent far off. Raanta has not been consistent over his career. The Sabres also have UPL coming up. In summation Ullmark had similar stats against tougher competition and to this point in his career is more consistent. The Sabres will gladly help Arizona with their cap issue, but they arent getting taken advantage of for it

There's just so many backup/tandem type goalies available in free agency, buyout Hutton and sign one, trading for a goalie is unnecessary for the Sabres imo.

wow, not a chance raanta gets that much. He is a rental, if he is traded, he'll fetch a 2nd or a 3rd.

Not a 2md, another goalie nearly as good as him, and a prospect who is carving out a 3rd line role.
