I believe at least one of these trades could make sense for both teams involved. Obviously huge long shot they all happen but that's what pretending you are a GM is all about.

Sabres pass. If Gaudreu was a center this would work. But with his lack of term the Sabres cannot give up those assets for a winger.

Wings pass.

Lucic had a whole 20 points over 68 games and has 5.25 million cap hit for 3 years. It took Toronto and Boston a 1st round pick for a team to take on their 1 year 6 million dollar cap hit. So in what world are the Wings taking on 3 years for his cap hit and having to give up Bertuzzi to get Hanifin. For 3 years it will cost more than a 1st to rid yourself of Lucic's deal in a cap world where the cap is the same for up to 2 years and a small increase the 3rd year.

And before you mention cap floor or Lucic will be a veteran presence on a young team, Wings have 3 RFA that could eat up to 15 million in Bertuzzi, Mantha and Fabbri with several.other spots to fill like a 2nd goalie. And Lucic is Not the kind of veteran presence I would want for a young team.

Jankowski regressed this year and he isn't worth a 3rd, currently. Still young and will probably improve but it's not even sure CGY will qualify him so I will pass

You won't get a 3rd for Parsons either

I agree Lucic is the last person you want to put into a young locker room. I think they might go over $15M If they have a chance to lock up Mantha 6 to 8 seasons they would probably spend the extra money for peace of mind. There aren't a lot of players with Bertuzzi's skill set. With the injuries Detroit had and Bertuzzi stepped up and proved he could carry a line by himself he was even leading the Wings in scoring for a while.

That Bruins trade certainly isnt possible.
Dont need another bottom/middle 6 winger (tryna give him credit), and certainly not giving up a 3rd for him

No, I just do not think Wimgs fan are going to take on a toxic contract which has 3 years, for a washed up vet, for 1 1st round pick and then trade a very good cost controlled player to get Hanifin.

Again the price has been set 1 year for a large contract is a 1st round pick, I am not taking on 3 years and and giving up a core player for Hanifin. Calgary would have to add. If the 1st covers the 1st year, what about the 2 remaining years, are we just suppose to eat that because we are bad, NO. Now Bertuzzi is good and Hanifin is very good but not at that the price this post is considering. In essence it is the 1st cover year 1 and Hanifin covers year 2 and 3 and we give up Bert, seems a little short.

Good points. I don't completely agree. Here's my reasoning... to me, the trade boils down to:

FC's for Lucic + 1st (CGY must add, because that's a big contract to eat for only a 1st)
Bertuzzi + Nemeth for Hanifin (Detroit should add a tiny bit, like a 3rd or 4th)

I'm not trying to undervalue/appreciate Bertuzzi, but Hanifin has a very handsome contract and can easily fit into our top pair for many years.

So maybe, for me, the trade should look something like...

OPTION A (probably not preferred by CGY)
To DET: Lucic (25% ret) + Hanifin + Pelletier
To CGY: Bertuzzi + Nemeth

OPTION B
To DET: Lucic + Hanifin + 2020 1st + 2021 2nd* (becomes 1st if Lucic does not score 25 pts in 2020-21 season)
To CGY: Bertuzzi + Nemeth

Option A is an easy no.

Option B is more in line with what Wings would want, but you'd have to make the 2021 2nd a 1st outright

Detroit's not trading Tyler Bertuzzi he's just now starting his prime years and should easily be a 50-60 point winger in this league. And Cirelli isn't signing no freaking $5 million offer sheet from Calgary. Probably take at the very least $6.5m to $7.5m to get him to sign one.

I like Hannifin but there is absolutely no way anything good comes from adding Lucic to the roster. The guy is a F#$KING PSYCHO. His last trip to the playoffs when Edmonton lost he went through the hand shake line telling every Ducks player that he was going to kill them. Plus Look how much better Edmonton is now that he is gone.

I do have a question for Flames Fans. Why did you honor his NMC? You could've just buried him if it wasn't for the NMC.
