I was honestly gonna take a shot at this, but 3 years at 6 mill for Lucic is possibly the worst value in the NHL.
If the Flames want to get rid of him and not retain salary they'll have to put in a nice kicker and it would have to be a team that can take the hit or another bad (but shorter) contract comes back.
Maybe Subban for Lucic? Calgary adds something? idk

I assume Calgary would have to add a kicker or take a salary back. Outside of lucic’s dollar figure and length of contract he also has a full NMC (most people have speculated that lucic would waive it for the expansion draft so as not to have to protect him but that’s not a 100% for sure thing.

That’s why I wanted to see what other teams would look for because as flames fans it’s easy to say lucic to team x for a pick and a prospect but I want to see what other sides look for

Maybe holding onto him for the expansion is the best move? I could see SEA wanting a guy like Lucic for his contract (getting to the cap floor) and maybe for his style of play. Fans love to see a monster human destroying opponents in their home barn. I would love Lucic on the jets at 1.5 mill in the bottom 6

Lucic's NMC allows him to nix any deal to a poor team with cap. Even at that poor teams don't like 5.25m X 3 cap hit for a non functioning player. They would rather spend it on a player that improves their team. With so many teams cap strapped, some teams might just have to "give away" modestly good NHLers to be cap compliant.
Sorry, I just don't see any deals for Lucic.

That would be the dream but the reality is if the flames have to expose a player like Gio or backlund etc...would they really take lucic over them?

I guess it depends on what they can get from other teams? I look at Vegas and how they really stocked up on young dmen. Gio is a nice option but is older and his contract is coming to an end. Backlund would a be nice pick up for sure.

Lucic for Eriksson?

Think about it rationally. Lucic is an effective bottom six player. Flames would be happy with someone like him at @ $2 - $2.5M per season playing on the bottom six.

So to shed $3.5M in cap and receive Max Domi you would consider trading this year's 1st, last years 1st, Valimaki (another 1st who will be a top 4 D by years end) and a conditional 3rd ???!!!

I understand he is ridiculously over paid on a buyout proof contract, but all that to save @$3.5M in cap is crazy - what would happen if this year's 1st ended up being a Barzal? I truly believe we would be better suited keeping him if this is the price to offload him.
